The frustration of today was surging through my body. This day felt like it would never end.
Deciding to call all efforts of the mission off for now, I started heading home."Baby, I'm home." I yelled walking through the front door.
Throwing my keys on the decorative table next to the door I walked into the heart of the house.
Harry was sat on the counter top, waiting for something he was cooking to be done.
"Babe. We've been invited over to the neighbors for a house party. I'm making dessert. We should bring a bottle of wine as well." He spoke kindly.
I nodded and internally sighed. I hated going to the neighbors house. All they talked about was their kids and how awesome their lives were.
"I'll just freshen up. Long day at work." I said and walked towards the stair case.
I heard him following me.
"I missed you." He blurted.
I turned around at the top of the stairs, taking advantage of the fact that me, being a couple steps ahead of him, I was taller.
I looked at him and sighed, "I missed you too."
"You alright? You seem... Tense. How 'bout a massage before bed? Maybe a relaxing bath?" He asked, finally reaching the same step I was on.
I nodded in response, not wanting to talk about the stressful day I had.
"Let's get freshened up and then head to the neighbors. We will only stay a little bit, yeah?" He smiled.
With a kiss on my cheek, we walked towards our room.
"Should we match?" Harry questioned.
"Of course, babe. We always do." I smirked.
"Black and blue? Or, red and white?"
"Red and white." I spoke, pulling out the perfect dress and heels.
"No matter what you wear, you always look so lovely. I am the luckiest man alive. I just know it." Harry spoke, walking out of his closet attempting to tie the bright red tie he had hanging around his neck.
"Let me." I spoke, walking over to him.
"You've always known how to tie these things..." Harry trailed off.
I giggled, "I'm surprised you haven't figured it out yet, Mr. CEO."
"Oh stop, I don't know for sure yet. It could go to Trevor." Harry spoke.
"No. You'll get it." I assured.
He stared at me intently, "I hope so. Are you ready?"
I nodded and walked down the hallway to the stair case.
Making my way into the kitchen, I grabbed the expensive bottle of red wine and looked at my drop dead gorgeous husband standing in the door way.
"I love you."
I stared at him, "I love you too, baby."
With a quick kiss we walked hand in hand over to the neighbors house.
Ringing the doorbell we waited silently.
"Hey! Ophelia, Harry! Come in."
"Greg! Thank you for inviting us over. We brought some wine." Harry spoke.
"Ah thank you! Kathy will love this." He smiled, letting us into the warm house.
"The most beautiful in the neighborhood is here!" Greg introduced us.
Both Harry and I smiled and waved at everyone.
"Ophelia, come over here! Us girls need to catch up!" Kathy yelled from the kitchen.
"Uh, I'll see you in a little bit. Love you." I spoke, kissing Harry and walking away.
"I wish I looked like you. Wow." One of the girls said as I walked into the kitchen area.
"Drink." Kathy spoke.
I took the offered wine and sipped-more like downed it.
"So, Greg told me that you are Harry are trying for a baby! It's about time you join us moms!" One of the girls spoke.
My eyes widened, "What? God no. We are not ready for that. Both of us agreed that we don't want kids."
All 5 girls stared back at me with blank faces. They all had at least 2 kids. Harry & I were the odd couple of the bunch, not even wanting kids.
"You don't want kids?"
I shook my head in response.
"Baby." I heard Harry say, wrapping his arms around my torso.
"Hi, love." I smiled.
"Ladies, do you mind if I steal my wife?" He questioned, noticing the awkwardness between the bunch.
"Of course not, Harry." Kathy spoke kindly.
Walking out of the kitchen I looked at Harry, "Thank you for rescuing me. They are like a pack of wolves." I giggled.
"I know. So are the guys. What's say we leave, yeah?"
"Please."
"Alright everyone, Ophelia isn't feeling too well, so we are gonna head home." Harry spoke.
"Oh, so soon?" Greg asked.
"Yeah, migraine. It's not pretty when it really gets going. I'm sorry for making us leave early." I faked.
With over a dozen goodbyes, we were finally out of the house.
I felt my phone buzz and I looked at it.
"Rose" it read.
Great what the hell did she want at this time of night?
I opened the message & it read, "Ophelia, big big meeting on Monday. CEO of SS will be here. Don't be a little sass like you were this past week. He has no tolerance for that. Also, dress sexy. It'll make him in a better mood to see some eye candy."
I internally sighed and followed Harry back into our home.
"Go strip off those clothes and put on a robe. I'll get the bath started." Harry stated.
I followed his instructions and met him in the giant bathroom.
"Care if I join?" He asked.
"Of course not. What's a good bath without 2 people?" I smirked.
"Naughty." He mumbled.
Staring at him, I couldn't help but to sort of freak out inside. He was dangerous. A killer. A person of interest. And yet, here I was, married to him, and so fucking in love. I had been lying to him and he had been lying to me for this entire marriage.
"Lillia? Are you okay?" Harry spoke snapping me out of my freak out.
"Yeah baby. I'm fine. Just stressed from work." I breathed.
"Get in. It's nice & warm. With those little fizzy cubes you like." He whispered, pulling the robe off me to reveal my naked body.
"Love you. Be right back." He spoke with a kiss to my shoulder.
Stepping into the hot bath instantly calmed me. Everything seemed to disappear. Every thought of work, gone. Every thought about having to kill my husband, gone.
This is what all the time should be like. This is what life was like before my latest case.
Before I knew it, Harry had joined me and it was like nothing in the world could be wrong.
We were perfect.••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
