Chapter Four - Darling Charming

"Daring!" Dexter groaned as his older brother swung around his sword.

It was breakfast, students filling in, angry at the sun for rising.

The three charming siblings sat at their table, already wide awake.

"Just as I thought I was going to go down..." Daring said mysteriously as Darling giggled.

After a moment of silence, Darings faced morphed, and he exposed a terrible sound, dropping back down on the bench.

"I pierced that beast right at its heart!" He exclaimed, heroically standing up.

Darling cheered as Dexter sighed, glad that Daring act was finally over.

"Thanks for the lovely story Daring, but not so early." Dexter fumed.

Darling laughed at her brother, and positioned her chin and her knuckles.

"You see, my dear younger brother, it was in fact very necessary. Now you know that is a beast ever dares to show his face at Ever After High, he's  going down by this very Charming." He said, pointing two thumbs at himself.

Dexter glared up at his brother as Daring laughed. Suddenly he nudged his brother.

"The raven is in the hall." Daring muttered under his breath, so lowly that only the family had heard.

As Raven passed the table, Dexter waved to his girlfriend. "Hey Raven." He said nervously, as recently they've been going through some rough patches.

Raven stopped, and looked at Dexter with sore eyes. She nervously looked around, and cleared her throat. "Dexter, can we... talk?" She hesitantly said.

A worried look struck Dexter. "Yeah, of course, are you okay?" He wondered.

Raven said nothing, but walked away, Dexter followed.

Darings eyes followed them out the door, then he turned to Darling. "You think Raven might break up with him?"

"Maybe." Darling simply answered, not really currently worrying about her brothers love life. She was worried about her own.

Apple had read her text, but didn't answer. She anxiously stared at her phone, yet stopped herself. Why did she feel like this. Sure, she was a lesbian, but Apple White?

Yeah, Apple White. She had stood Darling up. Darling groaned and walked out of the cafeteria, leaving Daring to stare at himself in his favorite mirror.

She shoved her Mirrorphone into her pocket and walked down the hall. Deep in her thoughts, she didn't notice a shorter girl bump into her.

"Oh Darling, I'm so sorry." That soft voice Darling would know anywhere.

Ginger Breadhouse.

Darlings first ever love. She was just 12 when she first saw Ginger. Her pink ponytails and adorable glasses. Everyone was afraid of her because she was the daughter of the witch from Hansel and Gretel. But all she wanted was to bake for the world. So Darling came up to her.

"Hey girly, wanna go bake a cake?" She offered. She saw Gingers eyes shine up as she happily agreed.

"Oh, no problem." She exhaled.

Ginger pressed her lips together and smiled up at Darling. Those kind of smiles made Darlings heart soar.

"What have you been up to lately?" Darling wondered.

Ginger pushed her pink glasses up her nose and uncomfortably shifted.

"Darling... I want to, erm, talk."

Darling frowned, but agreed. Slowly, Ginger intertwined her warm fingers into Darlings and started leading her further from the Castleteria.

She suddenly stopped and inched closer to Darling.

"I've thought a lot about... us. And you know Darling, you... you're so damn special, and I'm so shocked that no one appreciates everything about you, and I-"

Gingers words melted into Darling mind, and her eyes cascaded to Gingers lips.

Oh her perfect pink lips. There was no stopping now. Darling slightly knelt down and their lips touched. Suddenly everything slowed down.

It felt like Darling stomach had exploded, sparks and glitter flying everywhere.

She wanted the moment to last forever. But it didn't.

"Hey, Darl- oh my." A soft voice squeaked and tore the two girls apart.

"Apple!" Darling exclaimed as Ginger shot a glare at the daughter of Snow White.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to interr-"

"You didn't interrupt anything, Apple. Just give us a few more moments. I'll meet you in the Casteteria."

Apple grimaced, but slowly backed away to the hall.

Darling turned around to see Ginger mid eye roll.

"Woah, Gin?" Darling joked.

Ginger exhaled. "You've gotta understand, Darls. That girl gets everything. She doesn't have a hard life at all. "

Darling shrugged. "Don't be too quick to judge, Gin. So.. 'bout that kiss?" Wiggling her eyesblrows.

Ginger laughed." Well, if you're willing to be my partner, Charming, consider me your girlfriend."
