Yoshi and Ren Tanji were at the park with their parents celebrating their 5th birthday. It was getting dark when a van rode up to the park enterance, blocking their way. As a group of five men got out of the van, the father started panicking. "Honey, take the kids and get out of here. Get out now!" He said as he tried to hold off the men. One of them took out a pistol and shot the father. He fell to the ground and started bleeding. The second man grabbed Yoshi, put a piece of duct tape on his mouth, and pinned his arms behind his back as the 5 year old struggled against him. "The other two are getting away! Get them!" one man yelled. They shot at the two females of the family, the older getting shot and falling to the ground as Ren ran around the corner.
"The girl got away. What do we do?"
"Leave her. Shes 5, she can't do anything."
"And the two on the ground?"
"Leave them. They are bleeding out and unconscious. They will die within a few minutes. Let's just take the brat and go."
With that, the five men took Yoshi into the van and drove away.

As Yoshi grew up, he found out why everything happened. Apparently Yoshi's father worked with some bad people, then met his mother and left with her. The people he worked with got mad and went after him as revenge. And after 5 years of being kidnapped, no hero ever came. 5 years of abuse and pain, and no one blinked an eye. And Yoshi was fed up. He had always been fed up, but now he was even more fed up. It was his birthday exactly. He was turning 10. It's been 5 years. Five years since his parents were murdered. Five years since he last saw his twin sister. Five years, and he was pissed. The men he was captured by had an anniversary thing they did on every one of his birthdays. The abuse, torture and punishments were worse. ( Now, Yoshi has a fox quirk. He has a fox ears and tail and can turn into a fox, but that doesn't help him right now. )
"Hey brat. Ready for your birthday present?"
Yoshi just ignores him.
"Bring in the 20 pound weight."
"A 20 pound weight?!" Yoshi yells. One of the men brought out a large flamethrower. Bracing himself for impact, Yoshi made an 'x' shape with his arms, but nothing came. He opened his eyes, and say a translucent yellow force field like wall in between the men and himself. Everyone stood shocked. Taking the opportunity, he made a break for the hallway to try and escape. Yoshi made it to the hallway before the men started chasing him. Turning around he hesitantly held out his hands out and another wall of translucent yellow filled the hallway and ran out the door. He just kept running trying to find any familiar area from his childhood. He ran and ran, the abruptly stopped.
"The park."
The park was all overgrown. But Yoshi knew his way. He walked about 5 minutes until he came upon an apartment building. Walking up to the top floor, he knocked on the door. The door opened up to see a short girl with blue hair and fox ears. Almost the exact opposite of her taller, red/orange haired male twin.
"Hello. How may i- Yoshi?"
"Ren. It's been a long time." The twins conversed.
"What happened?"
"Its a long story. May I come in?"
"Of course you can. It's your house as much as it is mine."
After a long talk about literally everything, and a long pause of silence, they both spoke up at the same time.
"I want to go to U.A. Why do you want to go to U.A. Stop speaking at the same time as me."
"Okay. You go first Yoshi."
"I wanna be in the hero course. I want to be able to be the hero that want there for me. What about you?"
"I want to be in the Support course. So many people either dont have quirks or dont have 'cool' and 'flashy' quirks. I want to show people that not everything surrounds quirks. That and I still want to make a real life Baymax from Big Hero 6."
"I remeber when we watched that."
"Yeah. But now we have the apartment and leftover money to ourselves. And 5 years to prepare for our entrance exam

Just to be more clear about Yoshi and Ren's appearances. They are both twins, with fox ears and tail.
They are almost exact opposites. Yoshi has red hair, Ren has blue hair. Yoshi is tall, Ren is short. Yoshi has really short, fluffy and curly hair (kinda like deku) while Ren has shoulder length, straight hair (kinda like a mix of momo and jiro) Yoshi is more reserved and quiet, but kind. Ren is more outgoing, loud, and can come off as mean. BUT when really mad, Yoshi gets really loud and aggressive, and Ren gets uncannily quiet. Neither of them make friends easy, as they both have a hard time trusting people after the whole kidnapping and murder thing.
When their parents died, they had a large stash of money in the apartment. (Dont ask me how a 5 year old Ren can survive by herself. We dont question it). Also, Ren doesnt have the yellow forciefield quirk, only Yoshi does.

Fox: Has fox ears and tail, all the enhances senses of a fox, and can turn into a fox with a red poof of cloud
Drawbacks: can get really dizzy from transforming too much and can pass out or get stuck in one form for rough 2 hours.
Forcefield: can make a translucent yellow forcefield and can shape it into any shape he wants. Can make a bubble of forcefield around an area where nothing can get in or out and will not dissapear until a certain time.
Drawbacks: will start to bleed from almost anywhere when used too much ( i.e eyes, ears, hairline that just ends up covering his whole face in blood.) When making the bubble forcefield, he cannot be inside it, so whatever he was saving people from, he now has to face alone as he cannot be in the bubble.
Likes: drawing, singing, Ren, being in the hero course, Shinso and Mei (their friendship grows later in the story), anything sweet, arcade games, Any mario game (especially yoshi ones), musicals, legos, reading, coffee
Dislikes: crowds, a messy space, spiders, his body (it is littered in scars and he hates it.
