Like this one for example it was a gift that was given by her parents her real parents from planet Floria,the people of Florian's are similar to humans from earth and Their powers are similar to the people of Krypton except they aren't weak to Kryptonite they have an ability to grow all kinds of plants and they are connected to the plants, as for Kiara she is special, she is connected to all lantern corp rings and she is able to control them. She was raised by the guardians of OA since she was a baby, Ganthet and Sayd raised her as if she was their own Daughter and Appa refused that Idea but Kiara was able to win him over, Appa may look like an angry Smurf but on the inside he loves her and couldn't keep his eyes off her because she's too cute to say no to her.
