After leaving Betrassus to the care of the new Green lantern queen, Iolande, the team resumed on their mission, despite not earning a new recruit. Everyone gathered as Kilowog directed the meeting.
"Sound off like you mean it. Aya!"
"Present." She obeyed.
"Razer!" But he only answered with an unenthusiastic scoff.
"Kiara! Nina!"
"Here!" Kiara answered while playing a chess game from her computer with Nina, who was distracted at first. "Oh! Uh, here!" Nina said Trying to be respectful then resumed to her game.
"Jordan?" There was no response, because Jordan was also distracted as he played pong from his ring. "JORDAN!" That got his attention as the ball hit Hal's head and he made it disappear, "Killowag, there are only 7 of us, and we're all here."Hal said.
"We may be a half of universe away from Oa, but that doesn't mean we can't maintain a little discipline." Kilowog crossed his arms.
"Discipline's overrated and I called this meeting so we can assess our situation." The human replied leaning on the control.
"Easy. We'll all be dead in a month." Razer said. His edginess is reaching a whole new level. "Thanks a lot captain kill joy." Nina mumbled earning a stern glare from her sister figure. "How about we leave the tactical analyzes to Sergeant Killowag." Hal replied to the prince of Edginess not hearing Nina.
Killowog sighed, "Red's right. Just when things look a little hopeful, we lose our newfound Green Lantern, Iolande, because she won't leave home. So it's three Green Lanterns fighting the entire red lantern invasion."
"Hey! We didn't lose Iolande!" Kiara explained. "Just because she didn't come, that doesn't mean she won't help. We gained her loyalty and trust. That's what's important."
"Yeah."Nina agreed.
"Pardon my interruption, but I completed my search for the late Shyir Rev's power ring. There is good news and there is bad news." Aya said as the hologram of an old friend.
"Let's have good news." Said Hal.
"The rings signal emanates from a nearby planet." Aya answered. "Awesome! We must have found a replacement GL and could be another recruit for us. Change course immediately!" Nina smiled and leaned back to her chair.
Aya then changed course towards the ring's direction. "I know I'm gonna regret asking, but what's the bad news?" Hal worriedly asked.
"The planet in question will be hit by that asteroid in 5.2 minutes." She answered as the all gang looked out in horror to see a huge asteroid fly past them. "That's what I call a planet sized problem!" Nina exclaimed
"I say we blow that thing apart before it hits." Kilowog suggested.
"Due to the asteroid's huge mass, my cannons will have no impact even at full power." said Aya, "Then maybe we don't need to destroy it, we just slow it down." Kiara said earning a proud smile from Hal As they neared the asteroid, the two green lanterns used their ring power to slow it down as Kiara used her magic to help.
It made contact, but it wasn't slowing down. "Asteroid bearing unchanged." Aya announced. "I cannot maintain this level of output."
"What about our personal lanterns, can you sifter in another boost from them?" Hal asked
"Affirmative, accessing." With that, the wall got bigger, as the ship was shook violently as it is.
"It's working." Nina exclaimed in relief. Even with both Kiara's powers and the ship's power battery, it wasn't enough to stop it.
