I was eight when I first met the man that would change my life forever. He stood there, veiled in the blackness of his trench coat; a nasty smirk played on his thin lips. Even the man’s hair was the blackest of black. A single flower was woven into the old-fashioned fedora that covered half of his face. It was the only thing that held any color. It was a carnation; a perfect, blood red carnation.
My sister, Karen, stood face to face with the man. He was nearly twice her height, even with her standing at nearly four feet tall. Karen was ten at the time; she was the start of it all. She was the one who decided on that fateful day, to not run like a normal child, but to stay. Her eyes were lost in his; a smirk played on her lips. And at that moment, as the man brushed his claw-like nails across my sister’s cheek, fate had decided that life would never be the same.

**Important announcement: As of a few months ago, I finished this story, and plan on trying to publish it. I am currently editing the story still, and so all of the chapters are different then what they originally were. I changed the first five chapters and deleted the others I had up. Because I'm trying to publish this, I don't feel comfortable having too much of it up on here. I hope you understand.
On the other hand, if enough of you enjoy this story, I may be willing to add more chapters ;)
Thank you for your time. I hope you like this story!
