P.O.V: REITH'S
"FINE!" I yelled.
My Beta was was staring at me unafraid of my wolfs presence. Normally that would cause any alpha to start a fight but I knew the reason for his behavior. I knew why he no longer feared me.
He doesn't disrespect me, he's accepted me as his alpha, however, ever since ... 'that day' ... he just no longer fears death.
The only reason he hasn't openly sought out death is because just like me, he has devoted his life to this pack.
We are few in numbers but we are devoted to our training so we are not at a disadvantage when facing other packs.
There are thirty-two men, eight woman and two children. Having so few woman has made all the men of the pack protective of them, as well they should be.
Four of the eight woman are already elderly and mated, two are in their fifties and mated, one is in her early thirties with a five year old girl and mated, and the last is my dear little sister who is eighteen and mateless.
The only other child is a two year old who lost both his parents to a rouge ambush about three months ago and was found wondering in my territory.
We all watch over him but he has only let me near him and that's only because he feels safe near my wolf. It truly saddens me that he doesn't speak, all he does is stare at others.
Remembering the argument with my Beta I sigh but head to my car followed by him and three older men in their late fourties who had supported my Beta in my relaxing away from the pack.
I didn't like it ... leaving my pack, vulnerable ... without their alpha, but I knew that if I kept locking my self up in the study I would eventually burn myself out.
Stopping in front of my car I turned to glare down at my men. They bowed their heads and averted their gazes to show respect.
"Where did you have in mind Collins?" I asked my suddenly hesitant Beta.
He rubs the back of his neck before exchanging glances with the other men.
"The club?" He asks.
I would laugh at his response but I lost that ability long ago. Nodding I slide into the drivers side while Collins took the seat to my right and the others took the back seats.
Revving the engine I speed my way into town and recall I had no idea where the club was.
"Meripaz Road to your left Alpha."
I glance at the rear view mirror and see that Beryl the oldest enforcer we have, at the age of forty-seven, nodded at me.
Following his directions we made it there in less then twenty minutes.
The bouncer at the entrance was one of my pack members. He bows his head and let's us head in.
The scene before me had me scowling. There were too many humans feeling each other up on the dance floor. I shake my head in disapproval and my men agree.
We found a table and ordered a round of drinks only to have Gunner and Frank decide to leave and show the humans how to really dance.
"Alpha you should go dance as well." Collins muttered.
The way Collins and Beryl tensed I was certain my eyes had turned black. My wolf is passive with majority of pack dealings, trusting me to know what's best. He made rare appearance's and they tended to be when disrespected and when others suggested I interact with females.
After 'that day' I no longer wanted a mate. My wolf didn't push me on it seeing as how he also did not wish to find our mate, however I am a man and I have needs.
Ever since I touched another female who was not our mate he has retreated to the back of my mind not wanting any part of my decisions.
He only fights me when it comes to this matter but he knows the outcome. If I need to I will take a girl for the night.
"Alpha?" Beryl's voice breaks through my thoughts.
'This is not one of those times.'
Hearing the certainty in my voice he relaxes and dozes off.
"Not tonight." was all I said.
The pack was used to this. If I did not wish, I would not explain and they would not push the matter.
Nodding Beryl left to the bar leaving me and Collins in an awkward silence.
