Prologue - (Excuse the mistakes)

Tessa Yakau P.O.V.

I glanced around at my surroundings, taking in the smell of wet grass and damp wood. The tall trees towered over me like skyscrapers, whilst the sunflowers circled around my feet making me feel powerful and dominant.

Out of all the places I could be, the middle of a forest is definitely not the top of my list. The black cloak I wore covered my face entirely, no person or animal would be able to know who I am, just the way I like it. I perched my exhausted body on a sturdy rock to my side, watching as the rays of the sun lull me to sleep. As I listen to the small squeaks of the colourful birds around me, a piercing scream echo's through the lush foliage.

Sprinting to my feet I dashed as fast as I could, (well, for a pregnant lady) the wailing growing louder as I pounded my feet into the dark earth. A root stuck in the ground came into view, as my foot hit it's hidden bark, my body collided with the dirt. The screaming, as horrible as it was, ended. I moved my head up, only to see a woman with fiery red hair and multiple gems hanging around her neck. Her filth ridden boots came into contact with my arm, rolling my body over. Clutching my swollen stomach, I managed to squeak out a few words.

"W-who are you?" I stuttered, barely able to make a sound as the pain hammering in my stomach started to subside.

"Well, Queen Tessa, I will have you know that I have a message from the East Kingdom. It concerns some.....orders that King Julian would like completed. Lets start off with, I don't know, giving a curse to your unborn child." She spat in my ear, her voice riddled with loathing and malice.

Did I hear correctly? The East has had nothing to do with me and my Kingdom since the wedding.

"I'm sorry, uh, whoever you are, but I don't think king julian would do that. If he did, my husband would start a war." I shivered at the thought of this, war is not a good option. The last one was easily over 100 years ago and basically wiped our existence off the face of the earth.

"Ha! Tessa, dear, do you really think that King Julian has not thought this through? Whilst you have been wasting away with your precious husband, we have been gathering up an army to take down your entire existence! If you think, my friend, that your child will be unscathed, think again." She seethed the foul words into my ear, with those words, my entire world crumbled. My child, my Husband and my kingdom, will be destroyed. Unless....

"Fine! I will not put up a fight. Take my child if you wish, but please, not my husband." The words tasted like death as they rolled off my tongue. Shaking in my feet, The evil witch pulled out a beautifully carved wand, forcefully shoving it into my hand.

"When your child grows, without their mother might i add, this will be the conduit to all her powers, eventually the witch in her will be the kingdoms downfall. The curse shall begin." With those words she leapt over me, her boney knees digging into my sides. Slowly, she took off one of her gems and gently placed it on my stomach. She took her own wand out from her left scruffy boot, Grabbing my wrists, she dragged me to a nearby tree. The witch slid down the base of the tree angling her hand over my throat, suffocating me and stopping me from screaming.

"If you scream, little queen, I will personally see to it that this experience is even more panful. Understand?" I squirmed and nodded my head. The next thing I know, she places her sharp nails into my skin, a white mist is flowing through her hands circling my body. The mist danced delicately around me, like the flip of a switch, the white mist transformed into a shade of black, a vulgar colour as dark as pure evil. I could feel it against my arms, my legs, my head, everywhere it touched it left a burning sensation. I let out a muffled noise but the death grip her hand had on my neck stopped me.

As I was wondering how on earth could get out of this aggravating and painful situation, the wounds left by the witches nails started to absorb the mist. With the darkness, I myself, started to fall further and further into unconsciousness, letting myself give I've in to the power, the darkness engulfed me, leaving me with nothing but a death wish on my own life, and a curse that could be the downfall of everything I have worked so hard for.

A.N: Hello everyone! if you are reading this then you are reading the new and improved 'The heroine" I decided after re-reading some chapters that they were just overall boring and un detailed. Writing a book is a challenging thing to do, however I should hopefully update at least once a week. Please keep in mind that I am only 14 years of age, this is my first book I have ever written and I may take some time to get into the habit of writing. That being said, I truly do hope you enjoyed the book so far. I do not pride myself in getting votes or comments but feedback is always welcome! I hope that some of you will be dedicated readers and allow me your time in reading this book. I sincerely grant you my wishes and pray that you will stick with me through the journey! Goodbye for now!
