"We need to get out here now."

Even though it was clear you needed to urgently leave, Itachi kept a subtle quick pace so as to not attract any attention to you two.

He nodded towards the host of the restaurant who seemed to give an apologetic smile when looking toward you and you returned one back.

Once outside Itachi opened the door for you again and then just went inside on the driver side, not saying anything.

After about 10 minutes of a cold silence, you decided to speak up. "Itachi what's going on?"

Itachi still said nothing but his right hand, that was on the steering wheel, tightened and even though his left hand was over his mouth, between his fingers you could see his lips tighten into a thin line.

However, he was still silent. You looked ahead towards the road and gave him a couple more minutes to obviously cool off.

Sighing, you turned to him once more. "Sweetie, what happened? Are you okay?"

"No." He responded curtly, the deepness in his vibrato cutting you a bit with how standoffish he was being.

"Itachi normally the 'cool Uchiha' persona would suit you but not right now. Talk. To. Me."

He kept his eyes ahead and didn't even change his body language. Whatever happened was bad and had him on the edge like you've never seen him before.

"Itachi talk to me or I swear to Kami I will jump out of this car."

His black orbs flickered over to you so quickly, for a second you thought you had imagined it in the darkness of the night. "You're not jumping out of the car."

Finally getting a different reaction out of him, you put your right hand on the handle of the passenger door.

"Try me."

Itachi turned his head toward you and his eyes looked toward where your hand was, he tried to contain the smile that was threatening to show. "(y/n) please."

You let go of the handle and puffed your cheeks out. "Whatever. Just tell me what's going on, please. I want to help. I don't like seeing you like this."

Arriving at the light before the freeway, Itachi grabbed your left hand and planted a soft kiss on the back of your hand. "I'm sorry." He said in a low voice.

Softening your features, you placed your right hand over his left. "Sweetie, you can tell me anything you know that."

"Even if I put you in danger?" Itachi asked you in a deep soft voice that sounded almost broken.

"What are you talking about, Itachi?" You asked half laughing, starting to think back to how you felt earlier when you first got to the restaurant.

Itachi was fighting in his head over whether to tell you or not that he was upset. He was upset that he wasn't more careful before he went out with you. Knowing the current situation he was in with his fiancé and their family, he knew he was told to be more vigilant. It seemed the more he tried to make things work with you, the more he felt he was messing them up.

"We were being followed, and not by any of our people."

You sunk in your seat, a worse feeling brewing in your already empty stomach. "So I was right..." you said to yourself.

"What?"

"When we got to the restaurant, I felt a pair of eyes...watching me- well us. I looked around but there was nowhere anyone could be hiding. The streets were too lit up and there wasn't anything that could obstruct our view of anyone." You answered as you stared at the glove compartment in front of you.
