CHAPTER III : MEETING NEW PEOPLE DOESN'T HURT.
_ Hey, Carlos is it ? I'm Jason, Moana's son, and this is Ragnar, Anna's son. Ben asked us to help him with your training. Is it okay with you ?
_ Yup, I'm actually not really sure about the whole Tourney ordeal, but I'll do.
That was when Carlos fucked up. No, seriously, he didn't know what he had signed off for. The three of them made their way to the Field where Ben was waiting for them. The first thing the older players did was explaining the rules to Carlos, and that took about 20 solid minutes. You know, explaining the different zones, the different roles and everything, to someone who hadn't watched a game was a little difficult. Just a little, though. Then, knowing that Carlos wasn't that really interested in the physical side, Ragnar began a debate about different strategies that could be played during the game. The debate was really animated, Jason and Ben disagreeing loudly with Ragnar's methods, which kinda reminded Carlos of Jay. Ragnar was an offense player, and he was the buffer of the four of them, so that kinda explained his position. On the other hand, Jason was a defense player, making clear how he could handle and calm such a temper. Carlos didn't mind meeting new people. After all, someone said "Meeting new people doesn't hurt", right ? Oh boy, that person was wrong ! At the end of the day, Carlos' body hurt all over.
Carlos had been switching for a while now, working out with Jason on how to use a shield, and then going out to Ragnar to learn how to pass the ball, and how to use the cross. Meanwhile, Ben had been taking notes about what to do afterward, examples of working out, the weaknesses and the good things.
_ Come on, Carlos, a little higher ! Steady on your feet, boy ! Ready ?
And then, Jason rammed into him, again. It was supposed to ease him about the feeling of someone crashing into him, and incidentally help him learn how to do blocks. Carlos stumbled a bit, and almost fell, that didn't go unseen to Ragnar. As Jason gestured at Carlos to get in position, Ragnar grabbed the son of Moana by the shoulder.
_ Jase, easy, buddy. Look at him. I think it's time for a break.
_ Thanks Ragnar, I don't know if I could have continued like this.
_ I know, don't worry. Jase can be a little too much when it comes to Tourney and sports. But we all need to stop at some moment, right ? Now, you have 5 minutes, then you're with me !
Ragnar clapped his hand on Carlos' shoulder with a warm smile. The son of Cruella thought that it would be ten times worse than what he did with Jason.
_ You hold it like that and you strike, okay ?
Ragnar was teaching Carlos how to use the cross, and how to pass it to someone. Before that he made the young VK do some push-ups to see how much strength he had, then he showed him had to do what he was expecting from him. Ragnar had actually shot Jason's bottle of water, which had been funny, because Jason began to curse the tall blonde.
_ Careful... Now strike !
Ragnar had thrown the ball, and Carlos had struck, yup, but he had missed miserably. They tried it again from different angles, with different ways to hold the cross, Ragnar had even started to alternate the vitess of his ball throwing. After a while, Ben intervened and made them take a break.
_ Don't be discouraged Carlos. Ball play isn't your forte, okay. We'll come back to that later. Now, when you're ready, I would like to do some sprints.
Carlos began to run, as Jason and Ragnar cheered him on, but he didn't stop as he passed next to Ben. Only when he began to scream, the three other boys noticed Dude, the campus mutt, chasing after Carlos. Ben and Ragnar tried to catch up with Carlos while Jason was putting away the gear they had used. They crossed the Field and entered the Forest behind it, searching for Cruella's son. They discovered Carlos who was in a tree, yelling at the small dog barking at him.
