"How many invitations shall be sent?" I asked the butler, dipping my quill into an ink slab.

I was sitting in one of the spare studies in Zapolyarny Palace, a neatly arranged stack of blank paper and envelopes sitting on the large mahogany desk.

"42 invitations, Your Grace," he responded, pushing up his half-moon glasses. "One invitation for each noble family, so, all in all, 153 guests will be attending."

Sighing, I tied the back portion of my hair with a black satin ribbon, resolving to concentrate on my work.

After I left Mikhail and the families, I had insisted on travelling to three more locations, but my maid urged me to return, as it was necessary for me to begin preparing for the debutante ball. The goods I had brought were instead transported there by my servants and accompanied with a check written under my name.

I unrolled the list of guests, beginning on the first invitation.

Ever since I was young, my pen had always been extremely ornate and cursive, with dainty embellishments and loops that diverted one's attention away from the contents of the writing. Ayato always said I was 'extra', but I never minded him.

Good subjects of Snezhnaya,

By order of Her Imperial Majesty, the Divine Empress of Our Nation, I, Columbina, the 9th of the Ten Fatui Harbingers, courteously invite the main family of the House of Drutsky to attend the annual debutante ball. The ball will take place four evenings from today, on the night of the full moon, in the Grand Ballroom of Zapolyarny Palace. The Tsaritsa eagerly awaits your noble presence.

Kindest of regards,

Columbina, the High Priestess

Folding the letter in half, I copied down the address and sealed the envelope, pressing the stamp of the Fatui Harbingers into hot golden wax.

The second was for the House of Lieven, the third was for the House of Tolstoy, then the House of Menshikov, then the House of Konev, then the House of Herzen, the House of Vitsky, the House of Strumilin, the House of . . . the House of . . .

I pressed down the wax seal for what seemed to be the hundredth time, and at last, I was finished. Placing down my quill, I leaned back in my chair, gazing out the window wistfully.

Outside, the dusk had settled in, painting the sky a vibrant orange, and I was reminded of the tranquil afternoons I had spent in Komore Teahouse, speaking with my mother while Ayaka gushed over little Taroumaru. Those days were only small pleasures in the past, but now, they were the moments I longed to relive, just one last time.

I heard a knock on the door, and, snapped out of my daze, I answered, "You may enter."

Bursting through the door was the unmistakable figure of a certain red-haired Harbinger, dressed in his usual ensemble.

"My lady!" Childe exclaimed, waving his hand exuberantly.

"We meet again, Lord Childe," I beamed, returning his smile. "I take it that you will be attending the debutante ball, my lord?"

"How could I miss out on my bestie's debut?" he inquired rhetorically. "Plus, it's been a while since I went to some kind of social gathering."

Childe strode towards me, placing his finger underneath my chin.

"I bet you'll look just striking in your dress, Lady Columbina," he whispered, smirking. "What a pretty name."

"Thank you, Lord Childe. You look quite smart in a suit as well," I admitted, recalling our meeting at Himeros Garden.
