We don’t go to my home. Mum always hates seeing me beat up and hurt. She says ‘If you just stopped with all this nonsense, nothing would happen!” but it’s not nonsense. She never believes me though. We instead head to Cry’s house. Well... his house in his world anyway. For me, it’s a abandoned room, filled with dust and cobwebs. This is where our worlds are confusing.
Everywhere else in our worlds are identical. Same houses, same landmarks. The cars all drive at the same times to the same places. The people are different though but they think the same. The only thing we know so far is that for me, his house is abandoned and it’s the same in his world. I live in a dusty old room to him.
“Pewds, sit down” He tells me and I obey, pulling up a crate and sitting down where I remember him telling me there was a chair in his world. We always try and line things up so we don’t walk through things or any stuff like that.
“Cry... You don’t have to do this” I tell him but he shakes his head, walking off to the bathroom and getting the bandages. Nobody ever questions Cry. His mother is asleep whenever we get home and his father is out of town, meaning Cry is pretty much a free person.
“I have to. Friends care for eachother” He tells me, making me chuckle. As he bandages me up, I stare into his eyes with a faraway look but not so much his eyes but the reflections they show and the images his glasses hold. His house is nice. Nicer than mine anyway. The walls are a light blue, just like the sky. Cry’s eyes are darker though and the shade is much more beautiful. I kind of wish my walls were the same colour, that way I wouldn’t feel so alone without him.
“Is my beauty drawing you in again?” He asks and I laugh, hitting his arm gently.
“N-No” I pretend to stutter and we both laugh, worries flying away for that brief moment before they came crashing back down on us as Cry finished bandaging my wounds. My aching body groans and I bite my lip, trying not to make any noise to worry him.
“Stay here a second” He tells me as he quickly rushes off. I nod and wait a moment before he returns, holding something out to me. “You get lonely. I can tell”
“Cr-” I halt in my words as I look at his gift. It’s a picture of him, grinning and I’m in the corner of it.
“You can have that-”
“Idiot!” I shout, making him jump. “You told me you weren’t taking a photo!” He stares at me a moment before cracking up laughing, rolling on the floor. I begin to snicker too and soon we’re both down there, trying to breathe as we keep laughing.
“H-Here” I manage to gasp out, handing over my own photo of us. I had managed to snap it while he was asleep on my lap, having passed out after studying.
“You said you didn’t take any photos!” He shouts back at me and we both laugh again.
“I gotta go” I finally say, getting to my feet. He nods and waves goodbye as I leave, clutching my photo close. In that photo I was the happiest I had been in a long time.
