“RUN!”
The shout is loud as the screams tear down the streets. I’m running as fast as I can to find Cry. He’s on the other side of town, searching for money and food. Explosions ring out, knocking me to the floor. My breathing becomes laboured as I try and push myself back onto my feet. I can hear the distant scream of my name by Cry.
“CRY!” I yell, running along to find him. He crashes into me, knocking us both onto the floor yet as we make contact, strange electricity sparks from us, originating from our contact point.
“What?” Cry asks, reaching out to touch me. I touch his hand and more lightning spawns off, making us leap back in fear. A large explosion rings out and I scream for Cry to follow, both of us scrambling to run as the building crashes into the floor. The shock waves make us stumble but we keep running yet we don’t make contact.
Running and running, we scramble around with confusion, unsure of where to go or what to do.
“FELIX!” My Mum screams. I screech to a halt, seeing her standing there with Dad. I scream out for them and begin to run but stop as a explosion sounds. The sound makes me flinch and Cry calls out in alarm, grabbing my arm and pulling me back. Lightning sparks between us and I glance to where it launches, seeing a strange sight. A dimensional hole. To our city. Untouched. It clicks for me and Cry together. I spare a glance to my parents for a moment before looking to Cry. He’s mouthing things, to his mother I could guess.
“Cry!”
“Pewds!”
I look up in shock as Cry’s mother’s voice reaches me. I think Cry can hear my parents too. Our hands weave together, fingers interlocking. We take calming breaths as the lightning sparks more, creating a dimension hole.
“GOODBYE!” We shout together before stepping through. The last thing I manage to hear is all three parents scream as we step into the hole and the loud crackle of lightning behind us.
