Sodalite: A Steven Universe Fanfic (ON HIATUS)

Character Bio

Name: Sodalite

Abilities: Air Manipulation, weapon summoning, fusion, insane reaction speed.

Appearance: Despite most gems being perceived as females, Sodalite has a more masculine appearance and chooses to refer to himself with he/him pronouns. (I used Gemsona because I can't draw)

Weapon: (ignore the symbol on the swords and try to imagine them with the color scheme of the gem)

Backstory: Sodalite is a Homeworld gem born in Era One. At some point, the Diamonds sent him to terraform the Earth and quickly put an end to the rebellion there. However, once he got there, he was ensnared by nature's beauty and defected to the rebel group, The Crystal Gems. Once the gem war on Earth ended, he stayed with the Crystal Gems and helped them defend Earth. However, a few decades before the events of the show, he left the Gems after getting into a heated argument. He loved Nature's beauty but he slowly began to lose faith in the humans when he saw how badly they were polluting the planet. Eventually, he stopped liking humans altogether, and he stopped seeing a point in protecting them. This is what the argument between him and the Gems was about. The Gems wanted to protect humanity too, despite their flaws.

After leaving, he went around the world and tried to nurture some of the Earth's flora. One day some humans saw him and thought he was a freak and destroyed one of his gardens, furthering his hatred towards humanity. Eventually, he went to find a new spot, which he did. It was outside of a town. After a few years of raising plants, he found a small girl sitting next to some flowers. He didn't want her anywhere near them but soon realized that she wasn't harming them. She was also enjoying nature's beauty. She would come every so often and one day he revealed himself to her. She didn't think that he was a freak and she revealed herself to be known as Gwen Monroe. After a few days of talking, Sodalite would tell her more about himself to Gwen. One time, she tried to bring him some food, however, he thought the idea of eating was disgusting, as he didn't need to eat. Sodalite told her this and she asked him to at least try something, so he tried a marshmallow, which he didn't like but forced a smile and said that it was good. Seeing how nice and kind Gwen was being had slowly begun to restore Sodalite's faith in humanity. However, after a few weeks, Gwen would stop showing up. Knowing how fragile humans could be, Sodalite got worried and decided to look for her.

Eventually, he found her in a big building that said hospital at the front. Sodalite went in and asked someone at a desk to see Gwen. The man working at the desk asked how he knew her, to which he responded that they were friends. This was an acceptable answer and he brought him to Gwen's room. When Sodalite walked in, he saw Gwen attached to a machine. He greeted himself and asked why she was there. It was at this moment that Sodalite found out that Gwen had stage IV heart cancer. After a quick explanation as to what that meant, Sodalite realized that Gwen would most likely die from it. Gwen also couldn't put too much strain on her body, so she was bedridden. For the next month, Sodalite would bring in various flowers and he eventually met her parents. They didn't like that a strange blue man with a gem lodged in his arm was talking to their daughter, but after seeing that Gwen was happy with him being around decided to let him keep coming. Her doctor, a woman known as Dr. Maheswaran, also didn't like that Sodalite was visiting, or at least until the parents said it was fine.

After a month, she, unfortunately, passed away due to her cancer. Her parents bought him a suit to wear for the funeral. After he attended he would go back and attend to his garden. He made a special patch of Lilac, Gwen's favorite flower. He would also often visit her grave and bring flowers. During one of his graveyard visits is when Pearl, one of the Crystal Gems, found him and asked him to return, to which he refused. The only reason why he did end up return is that Gwen's mother convinced him to protect the planet that Gwen loved. And that there was what appeared to be a new sun in the sky. He knew that this was a Red Eye from Homeworld. Once he saw it, he returned to Beach City to help the Crystal Gems.

Hello everyone, thanks for reading. Now I know what some of you might be thinking, "Panda, why make a Steven Universe fanfic?" Well, the episodes are short and funny, and very traumatic at points. I figured that it would be nice to have a story with shorter chapters. Anyway, that's all I have to say, peace.
