Back in the village you used to live in, you met many wonderful people and made many good friends. Futaomote stood out amongst them, she was a very good friend to you, despite what many of the other villagers said. The two of you would go gather berries with each other and play with her daughter: Hiachi. She would always smile sweetly at you, she found that her impulsive side came out less when you were around.
You did, unfortunately, fall victim to one of her manic episodes, she punched the mirror and shattered it, while screaming "I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU" over and over again. You held Hiachi close to comfort her, as she cowered in fear, you stood your ground and stayed strong. After Futaomote drained herself of most of her energy she collapsed on the ground in sheer exhaustion, she turned her head and saw you and her daughter in the corner, Futaomote quickly crawled over to you two and apologized, tears pricking her eyes, and gave you both a tight hug, she buried her face into your neck and began sobbing loudly. You three stayed like that for a bit so all of you could calm down and relax. Aside from those few moments you two made such amazing memories together.
That was a while back, you found out that she disappeared not too long ago... you didn't even get the chance to say goodbye.
But that was not important at the moment, you somehow fell into a terrible hellish world and couldn't return to your own. Your main objective was to escape this nightmare. You managed to escape the Fleshbags and sneak past Hanzu and Kazeko, but you had a feeling that you still weren't out of trouble yet.
You arrived at a town, it was abandoned by the looks of it. Lanterns adorned the empty streets.
-"At least this time I can see well enough" you thought to yourself.
While walking through the barren roads something that you heard caught your attention. It was humming; soft, gentle and peaceful humming. But that was not all, you also heard the scraping of a katana on the ground and the sparks that followed with it. But you had no time to ponder what...or who it was. It was coming towards you, and fast. Panic and fear began to set in, a drop of sweat running down the side of your face. You broke into a sprint trying to find a safehouse of some sort. The hums started increasing in volume, the person was practically behind you now. Keeping a steady pace you continued onwards, adrenaline coursing through your veins, suddenly, you tripped over a loose stone on the ground and fell hard on the cold pathway, scraping your knee badly in the process. You winced in pain and tried to get back up, but it was no use.
Slowly turning around you finally saw who was chasing you. A woman, with long black silky hair that fell down to her waist. She was wearing a hat with a small point on the top of it and a beautiful white dress with a white floral lace pattern on it, but something was off...she didn't have any skin. Where her chest would've been was a human rib cage that was completely empty. You held back a yelp of terror. Then you saw her face: black tears flowing down her pale cheeks, and a solemn expression that held the greif of many years.
A feeling of dread twisted your stomach into knots. It was impossible, you knew that now there was no way you could escape from her alive.
-"...All that I ask is that if you're going to kill me do it quickly, I've suffered enough in this place" you said.
You took a deep breath.
-"I know no one will hear my last words, but I'll say them anyways. I wish I could've told Futaomote that I wanted to see her one last time, I just wanted to live peacefully in our village and go to the forest to pick berries and flowers from the Sakura trees with her. I wanted to hold her, console her, and help her...I wanted to love her."
Fresh tears trickled down your cheek. You were about to wipe them away when a soft hand gently caressed your face and dried them for you. It was the lady. Her solemn expression was replaced with a small smile. She then sat close to you and ran her fingers through your hair.
-"...Oh (Y/N), my love, it's been far too long. I have missed you so much" she said softly.
Your eyes widened, you knew that voice, that soothing tone that always managed to put a smile on your face.
-"Futaomote? I- is that really you?" Your voice trembled as you spoke.
She nodded.
-"Yes it is, and this time I won't leave you, I never meant to in the first place, I did something I'm not proud of, and it cost me my soul. And that tore me away from you as well"
You wrapped your arms around her and held her close, not wanting her to leave you again.
Futaomote chuckled and put her arms around your body, embracing you tightly. You told her about what had happened during the time she was gone, how Hiachi had also disappeared, you coming to this place and everything else. Your partner then told her story, about the butterfly spirit, the demon, her "twin". Soon there was nothing left to be said, you two just sat there, cuddled up close to one another. Futaomote then noticed that your legs were torn up and you were bleeding quite a bit. She picked you up and carried you to a safe house, where she set you down, grabbed a first aid kit and gently began disinfecting your wounds and bandaging them up for you.
After that, she leaned in and gave you a soft peck on your cheek. You smiled at her. Futaomote was left without any words and simply sighed.
-"I've missed you, my love, and I will never leave you again, I promise."
