Chapter Forty-Two... Becca's Fifth Birthday (My Baby's Growing Up!)

"I have the cake, the decorations, the food, the guests are on their way... I hate organising parties!"

I walked around in a rush hurriedly setting up for Becca's fifth birthday. Last week, she graduated from preschool. Today, she was five years old... and in a couple of months she'd be in kindergarten...

And in just one month, Addy would be two! And the triplets were almost six months' old!

ALL of my kids were growing up way too fast!

I had finally gotten my horrible leg cast off a month ago, and it was like I'd never been hit by a car now. Not that I had much time to notice if it hurt or not. Zane was almost crawling, Ethan was a speedy roller, and Lily could crawl backwards a bit. All three kids could sit up, and I knew it wouldn't be long and they would be talking.

Addy had this new thing where she would call people 'bogans' and I had no idea where the hell she'd picked it up from. I suspected her big sister for some reason... Addy listened to everything Becca said, and chose to completely ignore either myself or Cameron. It was increasingly frustrating. Becca wasn't like that, because she didn't have anyone telling her the wrong things to do. But if only Becca wouls stop helping her sister get into mischief.

I heard a knock at the door, and my heart leapt.

"If that's a guest here, I'm gonna freak!" I squealed.

"Mommy!" Addy squealed, running past me. "Becca's chasing me!"

"Come back here, Addy!" Becca shouted, also running past me.

"Girls!" I bellowed, rolling my eyes.

We'd been living here for about seven weeks. The kids all adjusted well to our amazing new house, and so did I. Cameron surprised me when he bought a small new car for me to take when I start college, which I could fit Becca and Addy into. The triplets spent one day a week in daycare now, which started two weeks before. Addy spends four days there, but Becca is at home all the time now, awaiting her kindergarten start.

Which she excitedly kept asking me every day if that was the day.

I opened the door to an upset Jenna.

"Jen?" I asked, taking her into my arms. "What's wrong? You're early."

"Oh, Dane and I had a fight," she sobbed. "He's being an ass. Something about not wanting to get married as soon as I do. And I..."

"Oh, you'll get past this, Jen," I smiled encouragingly.

"Well, I hope so," she cried. "We were talking about kids, and that kind of started the argument. He thinks I'm obsessed about kids, and I'm not!"

"Well, maybe you're not meant to have kids just yet," I said hesitantly as I led her into the living room. "But you will. I know it."

"I know," she sobbed. "I didn't get to tell him... we started fighting instead."

"Tell him what?" I asked.
