Harry's P.O.V

It was cold.

Well, the flat was always cold. The heater had blown a fuse about 5 months ago, so now whenever I turned it on, all it did was blow stale wind and stir the already chilly air.

I ignored this blatant fact and cranked the heater up anyway, praying to generate at least a little heat before Niall got here. I shivered and grudgingly succumbed to the late autumn cold and pulled on my purple Jack Wills sweatshirt over my black button down.

Stupid heater.

I hoped Niall wouldn't mind.
Speaking of Niall . . .

I looked at the digital clock sitting on the coffee table, next to where I had my legs comfortably propped up. It said 12:57, exactly 33 minutes before he was supposed to get here.

And I may or may not have gotten up two hours ago to take a shower, get ready and spiffy up the place a bit. I was about to interview a new possible roommate, someone who could possibly change the way I live for, like, ever. It was just as important for me to make a good impression of myself and the flat, as it was for him to do so.

My thoughts were ripped away by a harsh knock on the door. I glanced at the clock again. 12:59? He was a half an hour early.

The knocking continued, just as vigorous as before.

I ignored my hammering heart, and jumped up to the door. I took a few deep breaths and swung it open, more than ready to finally meet this Niall kid face to face.

"Sorry for the wait, I didn't expect you until - Wait. Louis?"
I raised my eyebrows at my feathery-haired friend.

"What? Disappointed? Who were you expecting?" Louis smirked, then pushed past me and inside, running his fingers through his hair. He whipped around, still smirking.

"Actually, yes." I sighed, slamming the door closed. "You can't be here, I'm expecting a look-through with a someone who's interested in my roommate position."

Louis raised his eyebrows. "And is that why you dressed up?"

"Uh, yeah. I'm not just going to roll out of bed and answer the door."

"That's normally what you do when I come over."

"Louis, I'm interviewing someone. I might just end up living with this person, which makes them a lot more important than you, thus my 'dressing up'." I huffed. It was kind of sad that I was currently cloaked in an old sweatshirt and Louis considered that dressing up.

I really needed to start putting effort into my appearence.

Louis just rolled his eyes and took a seat on the couch. "Yeah, okay. Anyways I brought you lunch, because I am one righteous mate." He took his bag off of his shoulder, reached in, and tossed something at me. I caught it, startled, and then inspected the cinnamon butcher paper.

I raised my eyebrow. "Righteous mate? You just brought me a bagel from the cafe. You know, the ones we get for free."

Louis simply laughed. "Shut up and enjoy it."

I just rolled my eyes and set it on the coffee table, then took a seat next to my friend. "Seriously Louis, you need to leave. Niall will be here any minute."
"Pfft, Harry, I am your best friend. I'm pretty sure kicking me out for a stranger who means nothing to you is pretty uncalled for." Louis drawled out dramatically.

I groaned. "Fine, stay here then."

"Oh, I plan to."

I groaned again.

"So tell me about this Niel guy or whatever. Why is this interview so important to you?" Louis asked, taking a bite from his own bagel.

I rolled my eyes. "Because I'm finally getting rid of Josh and I just want to make sure the only person who probably saw the few flyers left up might actually decide to move in and help out with my financial position."

"Well geez, no need to freak out about it."

Suddenly, before I could reply, there was a knock at my door for the second time today. Boy was I popular.

I groaned for the third time. "It doesn't matter anymore. Just stay sitting there and keep fucking quiet."

"Yeah, yeah." Louis rolled his eyes, and grabbed the clicker to turn on the telly. I simply ignored him, walked over to my door and threw it open, no longer too concerned about making a grande greeting.

"Hey. Niall, right?" I said smoothly to the boy standing there.

He stood awkwardly out in the apartment building hallway and smiled sheepishly up at me, nodding. "You're, um, Harry?" He stuttered.

My heart beat started to elevate slightly. It took me a second to realize that he was indeed the boy I had spotted in Beth's yesterday.

I wondered if he possibly recognized me as that sexy barista who took over Anya's shift.

"Come in." I smiled and pressed my back against the door to let him walk through. I watched as he looked around, and set his bag down.

I shut the door. "So this is it. Have you ever roomed with anyone before?" I asked, just to make small talk.

Niall smiled shyly. Again. "No. Unless parents count."

I laughed. "So this is the first time you'll actually have a roommate?"

"Yeah. If I move in." He said, looking around the living room. Louis smiled and waved over at us. I rolled my eyes, but I could feel my annoyance at him slowly dissipating. He was just so Louis, you know? I couldn't stay mad at him.

"This is my best mate, Louis." I said smiling, and gesturing over at him.
Niall turned and waved. "Hey, I'm Niall!"

"Nice to meet ya, pal." Louis called and did that weird pointy-snapping thing that he does. Niall laughed.

"So um, the kitchen is this way." I said, walking over to our outlet kitchen, with Niall trailing behind closely behind.
"Nice, okay." He replied simply.

I then proceeded to show him down the hall, where his room and the bathroom were both located. We made very little, slightly awkward small talk that stayed mostly on the topic of the apartment.

All in all, the walk-through was just like any other. Niall seemed normal enough - not to mention, he was quite good looking - and I liked him. He was quiet and reserved, very unlike Josh.

When we discussed the approval of his paperwork, Niall seemed overly eager to move in as fast as possible (not that I had a problem with that), and for some reason, I hadn't questioned it at all.

He just seemed so normal.

Little did I know, of course, this was not the case. This was not the case at all.
