She sparked my interest when she asked if Tremaine explained why he left for all those years.
Sitting there silently I did not know how I should respond back.
I text asking her what she knew and to spill it.
Noticing that my hand was shaking as I waited for a response.
I got up and cleaned my mess before retiring to my room.
And just as I was about to run my bath water to relax.
The sound I was waiting on sounded off.
Reading the long text, I did not know how to feel.
Mainly because she knew while I did not.
The day he had left he received a message about his twin sister and his parents.
They were in a fatal car accident that left his mother dead on impact.
His father died about a week ago from the injuries from the wreck.
But his sister died two days with him making the decision to pull the plug.
She was in a vegetable stage this entire time.
All these years he was taking care of his sister and dad.
"Outside of your son he now has no family," she said.
Ta'Nesha thought for a split second about how she had once considered her family.
But she didn't give in to mentioning that thought.
I ask her, "How does she know all of this?"
Her response gave me so much relief.
Her grandmother was his parent's neighbor.
Putting my phone on silent and continuing to get my bath together.
I turned this information repeatedly inside my head.
I was now mourning the loss of what could have been.
Ta'Nesha felt bad that he had to suffer all of this alone.
There was a loss in the fact that their son will never meet them.
My loss also comes from the fact that I will never meet them.
The hope and possibility that I would one day have a relationship with his family are now gone.
I wondered what features he got from both parents.
And whose personality was like his.
I wanted to listen to stories of his birth and childhood.
Were he and his sister close or did something happen to drive them apart like her family?
Twins were supposed to be inseparable, but this was her first time hearing of her.
I then thought about my own family.
And decided in the morning I was going to write them all on Twitter.
They never met Terrell and Ta'Nesha did not want to rob him of his chances.
Before
Jasmine and Ta'Nesha had become good friends.
One that she had grown to cherish at the time because it was her first friendship.
And she was truly learning the meaning of a meaningful bond that was full of benefits.
Best friend.
Friend with benefits.
Family friend.
It was to the point they did not wait for Tremaine to want to enjoy one another.
