M/n was stunned into silence

M/n was stunned into silence.

Did he just hear that correctly? Did Eugene just confess his love for him?

His eyes widened momentarily, his ears perking up as soon as he heard it. He knows that Eugene was a prideful man, he never confesses. And he knows as well that Eugene was never really interested in romance.

But what was this sudden proclamation?

Does he mean it?

"Eugene, I already forgave you for breaking my window and nearly killing me with a rock — there's no need to resort into this." M/n's throat was dry. Not because he was thirsty or deprived of water, it was simply because it was a natural reaction of his body when feeling like bugs were crawling out of your esophagus, coming straight from the pit of one's stomach.

Butterflies, in a simpler term.

Eugene was a little hurt when M/n assumed he was kidding or manipulating him to forgiveness.

He pulled away, turning to look at M/n straight in the eye, removing his round spectacles to show him the original and raw sparkle in his eyes. He had a newfound determination and courage to show M/n just how he really meant it.

"M/n, I recently discovered the word for my feelings for you. It's love. I'm absolutely sure it's love." Eugene stated firmly.

M/n stared and only allowed him to continue, eyes showing how he was still processing this.

"I realized that I have had these feelings for you for a while now, I just didn't realize it sooner since the thought that I actually liked you more than just a friend never really crossed my mind." Eugene admitted. "It was only recently did I face situations and feel strong emotions that helped me realize what it is I truly feel for you."

The night sky above them, the gentle cold breeze, and the feeling of having M/n so close had comforted Eugene greatly. He wanted to keep this precious moment locked inside an exclusive memory box only for him to see.

"M/n, I'll say it again." Eugene took in a deep breath, closing his eyes momentarily before opening them again to stare right into the other male's stunning orbs, his own heart noticeably fluttering inside him.

It was thumping uncontrollably against his ribcage, seeking to let itself known.

"I want you back," He repeated. "I want you back not as my bodyguard, not as my secretary, and not as my friend either. I want you back by my side but as my lover this time — someone I can take care of, someone to love with every fiber of my being."

M/n could see his sincerity.

Eugene was so openly vulnerable before him, a very rare sight, even more rare than finding strawberries that can grow in the heat.

"Having you work under me or simply being my friend is not enough, I want you to be mine and mine only, as I will be yours." Eugene said seriously before he chuckled, ridiculing his own thoughts. "You see how much of a wreck I've become? You drive me crazy because I love you too much—"

Before the spectacled male could speak anything more, M/n grabbed him by his tie and pulled him in, slamming his lips against his own.

Eugene was taken aback but it didn't take long for him to return it, placing a gentle hand at the side of M/n's face in effort of pulling him in closer than they already were.

He felt the fulfillment, the satisfaction, the feeling of being complete.

He absolutely adored the feeling of having his lips against M/n's.

By the closeness, he could smell M/n's comforting scent, the cold feeling of M/n's mint chapstick, and the taste of the strong peppermint that M/n must have eaten before coming out of his house.

It took them a couple more seconds before they pulled out, both panting as they made small attempts of catching their breaths.

"Who eats peppermint right after getting hit by a rock?" Was the first thing that Eugene managed to ask as he grinned with a breathy chuckle.

M/n easily returned it. "I guess you can say that it's therapeutic." He then fixed his composure. "After kissing in front of my parents' house, what does that make us?" He asked slowly.

Eugene carefully slipped his glasses onto M/n's face, making him wear it with a rare goofy smile evident on his face after seeing how the boy looked in it.

"You look good wearing my things." Eugenee said with approval. "And wasn't it clear already? I said that you're mine, I'm yours." He softly trailed his finger over the side of M/n's face, tracing every little detail and feature. "You're now my lover, my significant other, the love of my life."

M/n was absolutely flustered.

"Was that your way of saying 'I love you too'?" Eugene questioned mischievously as he indicated the passionate kiss they just shared earlier, initiated by M/n himself.

"If you want to hear it more properly, all you have to do is ask."

"I want to hear it." Eugene insisted, certainty in his tone, making M/n laugh heartily.

But he wasted no time as he leaned in slightly. "Well, Eugene. I love you too." He whispered.

Hearing the reciprocation, Eugene felt the bloom in his chest, like cherry blossoms in early March. It warmed his stone-hard heart that could have replaced the rock that he threw on M/n's window.

Eugene held M/n's hand and interlaced their fingers, sharing their warmth that reached all the way towards their chests.

"From now on, this is the start of us. And I don't plan to ever let you go."

M/n shook his head and smiled. "Good, because I don't plan to ever go away." He stated.

Everything was perfect.

And if Eugene only knew that this was the great outcome, he would have forced himself to realize his feelings sooner.
