What was two weeks before school began turned into a weekend before Creed's eyes. He'd been crossing the days off his calendar ever since he arrived in Forks, hoping that, somehow, time might come to a standstill. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do to postpone it for just a few more days; he'd hardly settled in just yet.He had spent days at a time just reading, drawing, and playing his violin. Hiding away in his room all hours of the day, Charlie became worried for him. It was obvious that Creed didn't like to be in the great outdoors, but it was becoming a problem.
Renée had called too, stating her concern because her only son hadn't answered a single one of her emails. He'd read them all, not that he told Charlie that. He just couldn't be bothered with his mothers incessant nagging. She kept talking about the wedding. Like Creed cared about her wedding...
The redheaded boy never wanted to come off as arrogant or privileged in any way. However, Phil wasn't the sharpest tool in the expansive shed, and it ground on his gears ever so slightly. He made Renee happy, and that was good for her, but she never thought about Creed. At least she took Bella into consideration.
For Forks, it was nice outside. The sun was in the sky, and there were some clouds, but generally speaking it was as warm as it ever got. Creed only noticed because he didn't have to use the big light in his room. The curtains were pulled open, sending light all over his desk so that he could see his sheet music much better.
It must have been early still when the there came a knock at the hatch on his floor. Creed stood up from his desk and opened it to see his dad on the ladder. He was far too awkward to actually finish climbing and stand in the room itself, so he just got on with it, really.
"I'm, uh, I'm off to work." Charlie said. He did this every day. Perhaps he remembered that Creed just liked to be in the know.
"Okay." The boy needed and smiled. "Thanks."
"You know, if you want to do something different, there's loads of hiking paths around here. But, um, I'll leave you be. See ya later, Creed."
Clearing his through slightly, he replied hurried so Charlie could hear him before he made his way down the stairs. "Bye, Dad."
Creed knew exactly what his Dad was trying to do, because it was the same thing that Renée had been working on for years. Only, Charlie was a little more subtle about it. Forks was more appealing as the sun didn't beat down like some sort of ginormous electric fly trap. A walk might not be so awful... he would have to take his MP3 player, of course.
After changing into something more suitable than pyjamas, Creed left the house, knowing his dad was already long gone. He smiled to a few people as he passed them by on the street. They probably knew him, most people did. Charlie always got quite excited when he and Bella visited, and often talked of nothing else until they arrived.
Status Quo began to play through his headphones as he turned the block. He wasn't a huge fan, but he could appreciate the way Francis Rossi played the guitar. It was unlike anything else, but it just wasn't his sort of thing. Creed suspected Phil had snuck it onto the MP3. As soon as he got home, he would be deleting them off the device.
He was much happier when Queen came through instead. Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy was an absolute tune, and soon enough, his steps fell in time with the beat.
