This was not supposed to happen. Nothing that Tommy did was supposed to lead up to this point. And yet here he was, glaring daggers into the eyes of the people he had once deemed his friends.

Everything was supposed to go well after the previous president had died from a heart attack, until Tommy's best friend - his only companion who had fought through a war for independence with him, the only person who accompanied him through thick and thin, the one who was assigned to be the president of the country at age seventeen - had decided that for "the best of the country", Tommy had to be exiled.

Ironic, Tommy thought, being exiled from a country that he helped to build; L'manberg. Countless days and nights building - and rebuilding it from various explosions - the nation he swore to never leave.

What was Tommy expected to feel? A rage that could only fuel the burning pain in his heart that had been stabbed by the arrows of his best friend's words, and now his heart could only drown - sinking in the uncontrollable agony of betrayal? A loss in trust?

Tommy had never felt his eyes sting as hard when tears rolled down from his eyes. Through clouded vision, he could see a bright orange glow reflected by the glass panes of the newly built houses. The air around them was tense, how a long-lasting friendship could be broken like this, on the opposite sides of the same path they used to strode down together all the time, and fuming hot.

As a child, Tommy had discovered that he could manipulate flames through his feelings, a unique way of conveying his pent up rage. Thus, Tommy was forced to control his emotions, beyond the crippling anger issues stored within him.

He made a promise with his best friend to never use his ability, his superpower, his curse, on him.

But Tommy was also a liar, and some promises were destined to be empty.

What happened next could not be recalled by Tommy. All he remembered was walking through the wooden path lit on fire, gradually burning and falling down as there were muffled screaming from behind.

And the next thing Tommy knew, he had reached his new home, named Logstedshire.
