"This is it," my best friend, Angelina says.
"I know, we've came so far." I smile.
It was graduation day for the students at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. I've been looking foward to this day and dreading this day for so long. I've only been dreading it because I've made so many lasting friendships here and coming here everyday has made me extremely happy. It's been my happy place for the last four years.
"It feels like just yesterday when we first came here and had no idea where to go." Ang chuckled.
"I know," I say smiling. "But i'm going to miss you and everyone else so much" I say in a sad tone. "These have been the best years of my life, and it just flashed before my eyes."
"Well, think of the bright side, after today, we finally get to go out into the world and work. We get to do what we've been training for this whole time. Our hard work is going to pay off..we get to do the one thing that always makes us happy." Ang said in a hopeful tone.
"You're right," I say. "Today marks the beginning of our careers." I say with a huge smile spreading across my face.
Acting has always been my escape from the world. It's the one thing that I could go to whenever times were dark, whenever I felt like I had no purpose. Right from when I first started, I knew that I couldn't do anything else
Everyone including some people from my family, have always told me that I couldn't do it.
"It's too hard."
"You'll never make it."
"It's such a competitive field."
"A job isn't guaranteed."
"It's almost impossible."
Despite all those things being said, I simply shook them off. I always did. Nothing was going to stop me from doing the one thing I love the most.
"Jules!" Ang calls, a few steps ahead of me.
I snapped out of my daze and quickly followed her. We had been waiting in the gym and we were now walking outside because that's where the ceremony was being held.
Ang sat a few rows in front of me, in her assigned seat because we were put in stupid alphabetical order.
"And IIII will always love youuuuu, alwayssss love youuuuuuu!" I belted out to Ang.
You can't blame me, I'm an actress.
I sing too, as you can tell.
"I don't know the next lyric!" Ang called out to me.
Of course she doesn't.
My other friend, Chrissy started singing the rest of the song to help us out.
Ang and I sang along, but of course Ang only sang along to the words she actually knew.
Can you guess what happend after that?
If you guessed that everyone else joined, then you're correct.
I'm gonna miss this too much.
One of my professors, Mr.Muzli, came up to one of the microphones.
"I know you guys are having a blast and I'm sorry for ending your enjoyment but you guys are going to have to simmer down, after all, this is a college graduation" he said with a laugh.
We all shut up after that and sat down but we were all laughing at our stupidity.
My other friend, Connor, who I've been friends with since I first got here takes his seat next to me.
