It took more than the electric alarm's beeping to awaken me for morning activities, however, as the voice of the news anchor woke me even more.

"Good morning Dawndale Ridge! It is Summer 2019! Get your sunscreen and your water floaties because it's the summer break and I am just as excited as you are to get out there and enjoy the sun! Remember to drink plenty of water and stay in the shade because this will be a hot one, hoo boy!"

Rising from my bed, only to hit my head on the bunk above me and greeted by the loud snoring of Nat above me as well. I move my legs over to the floor, only for my feet to be greeted by Rexy's tail. She quickly turned and started to walk on my feet like a begging dog. I just smiled, "Morning Rexy."

It had been a few months since Nat and I joined The Camarilla. The fine fellows who rescued us from the Witch Takers learned of our quest to find them and followed our trail, to A.G, to Mattia, and finally to Jagger. They told me that they had been keeping an eye on me for some time and wanted to welcome me to their ranks but never got around to it. Honestly, I'm thankful they came around at all.

Nat was also a fully-fledged vampire by now, and unfortunately, there's no known cure for it other than death. Nat tells me he's cool with it, after all he's got some awesome powers now. Those blasts of something that burned the faces of the elites back in the Witch Taker's HQ? Those were blasts of steam. My man has elemental powers, which I think is pretty awesome.

Speaking of Nat, we became roommates. We moved out of the city and moved into The Camarilla HQ as Protectors. We protect the young vampires and teach them how to use their powers. Never thought I would become a teacher but hey, free housing and blood. Plus, they allow pets! Apparently, the Tegu is a popular pet amongst vampires so Rexy had met a few new friends.

As I stand up, not tripping on Rexy, I open my window to let in that summer breeze. Though I had no pulse, I never felt more alive.
