I feel Zane tap on my shoulder and I turn to look at him. I see a questioning look on his face, like he's expecting an answer from me.

"I'm sorry, what?" I ask him.

He sighs "You didn't hear a word I just said, did you?"

I shrug my shoulders "Not exactly."

"What were you thinking about?" He asks me as he rubs on my back.

"It's nothing, really. What did you say though?" I change the subject.

He huffs and gives me a pointed look. Like he knows I'm just trying to change the subject. Thankfully he decides to let it go.

For now..

"I asked if you were ready for this meeting." He raises a brow at me.

"Of course." I scoff as I wave it off.

Honestly though I'm a ball of nerves. The only vampire I've ever trusted is Vlad. Well, he's one of the only ones I've ever really met to be fair. I have met a few others, but they tried to kill me. Clearly they didn't succeed.

"If you say so." He chortled.

I just give him the side eye and scoff at him. I snatch my water bottle off the counter and start heading towards the front door. We're having the meeting at the meeting hall on the southern side of the territory. We did it that way so that we are away from the rest of the pack, who will be on lock down for the night for 'safety precautions'.

As I walk towards the meeting hall I hear Zane following close behind. I also notice that all day I've kept getting this nagging feeling that something is going to happen tonight. Unfortunately I have no way of determining if it's going to be a good or bad something. I'm hoping for good, but preparing for bad.

When the meeting hall comes into sight I see everyone is already there waiting for me and Zane. We told our circle of close family and friends, we figured they needed to be a part of this.

But we did make everyone take a blood oath to keep everything strictly confidential. Breaking a blood oath is a serious thing, it's beyond painful to even attempt to break it. If you actually manage to break it, you're banned from the Moon Goddesses realm once you die. You simply wander around the earth a lost and broken soul, never to rest or find peace.

Anyways..

As I get closer to them I see Alexa, Zara and Layla arguing about something while Felix just laughs. Max is standing back observing everyone until his eyes land on me, and he gives me his crooked smile. Meanwhile Talia and KC are in their own little world, with KC standing behind Talia with his hands on her belly.

Ever since he found out she's pregnant he's been extremely protective. She had to threaten him with no sex until the kid turns eighteen to even be able to come to this meeting. That's when he finally caved.

I smile and wave at them as I approached. Max is still the only one that's noticed me, so he's the only one that waves back. His wave is over-enthusiastic and goofy, which catches everyone's attention. So they turn to see who he's waving at, and then they finally notice me.

"Fine ask her then!" Layla tells Zara.

"Ask me what?" I cock my head to the side as I ask.

"Are you sure these... blood suckers can be trusted?" Zara snarls, saying the words blood suckers with so much hate and disgust.

I roll my eyes at her "Yes, I'm sure. I've personally known one of these so called blood suckers for a very long time. He saved my life actually, so yes I trust him with my life."

"Fine." She huffs as she walks into the meeting hall by herself.

I hear Zane chuckle behind me as he puts his arms around my waist and pulls me against him. He buries his nose into my neck and inhales deeply, and I can feel his body relax.

"She'll be okay." He tells me as he lets go of me, but grabs my hand.

Our guest haven't arrived yet, but they should be here any moment. Just as we're all standing there talking I notice Max stiffen slightly.

"What's up?" I ask him.

"She's close." A big grin spreads across his face.

We all turn to face the trees and notice six vampires coming out of the tree line. Vlad is in the middle of them, walking slightly ahead of the rest.

A stunning woman with long dark hair and big blue eyes makes eye contact with max and her face lights up. We all watch with smiles on our faces as they run into each other's embrace.

That must be Nyx.

"Thank you for this opportunity Alpha." A man standing beside Vlad speaks to Zane, bowing his head slightly in respect.

Before Zane can reply Zara comes running out of the meeting hall like a mad woman. Her nose is in the air and she looks frantic.

"Where is that smell coming from!" She yells as she looks around.

Her eyes go wide as soon as they make contact with the man who had spoken to Zane. Her mouth is literally hanging open and she looks stunned.

"No... this can't be." she says in a hushed tone.

The man's eyes are red as he stares at Zara "Hello my beloved."
