"I'm sorry... the what now?" Zane asks.

Nyx sighs "The claiming. It's rare and usually only happens when, well when different species mate. But it would seem the rare occurrence of different specie mates, isn't exactly so rare around here."

"Okay, but umm... what does the claiming mean exactly?"  I ask.

But what I really want to know is what the actual flying fuck had happened with me.

However, I really don't know if I want to delve into that bag of crazy at the moment. So I'll deal with it, later on.

"It's... complicated. The simplest way I can describe it, is that Moon Goddess is ensuring their relationship." Nyx finishes.

"We'll go over all of this later. For now, I need a run." I say right before shifting and taking off into the woods.

I guess I need to delve deeper into that bag of crazy now.

I need some time to myself to clear my head. What the fuck was that back there? I've NEVER felt that out of control before. What's worse, a part of me.. liked it.

There had been this raw energy behind it. This surge of pure power driving me. When I seen her paw on his throat I knew she had the potential to rip off his head, and she would've hated herself for it. Not to mention she would've killed her own mate. I just remember wanting to protect him, and in turn her too.

I let my mind race as I race through the woods. I haven't gone on a real run in days. I needed this. The foliage beneath my paws and the wind in my fur felt surreal. I just wanted to run forever.

FLASHBACK (Nova is 14 years old)

I feel the blood pumping through my heart as my heavy, yet still steady and quiet breathing slows. I wait and listen. *da-dum, da-dum, da-dum* I don't let a muscle move as I wait. *snap*  My left ear twitches as the twig someone just stepped on broke.

I wait three, two, one I dart quickly the opposite direction of the noise. They were getting close, but no where near close enough. Nothing felt as good as running did. I loved that I could out run almost everything and everyone. At least I knew no one would ever catch me.

I slow to a steady jog, taking my time to look at the scenery. I don't think I've ever came this far north on the territory before. Im not supposed to for whatever reason. As I realize where I am, I start to turn around. Then something catches my attention.

A shimmer catches my eyes up ahead. I have no clue what it is but it makes me stop dead in my tracks.

It's a gorgeous silvery blue shimmering color that is barely even visible, but I see it. It stands almost in the shape of, a woman?

As I slowly approach it doesn't move. I get within five feet of the mirage that looks so real. Like it's trying to reach out an arm to me. I lift my nose to its hand-

*WHAM*

"What have I told you about coming this far north?!" My father links me as he roars at me while standing above me.

I do the best thing I can, I tuck tail and whimper. Showing my neck in submission I tell him I'm sorry. "I didn't realize how far I'd come sir. I was about to turn around when-"

"When what?!" He snaps.

I should tell him what I saw. What if it was another species, I can't believe I didn't think of that I'm so stupid! How could I be so ignorant?!

No. He doesn't need to know. It meant no harm.

There she is again, my subconscious. Always chiming in when I'm confused or stressed or worried or sad and even happy. She's always there with me. And she's never been wrong before, so I trust her.

"When you tackled me sir." I lie smoothly.

I breath steadily and keep my heart rate steady. The smallest change and he'll be all over me.
He sniffs me for a moment, then huffs. Shaking out his fur he turns to me with a blank expression.

"run." He flatly states, eyes looking colder than ever.

Fuck
