So far, lunch is my favorite part of the schedule other than the long breaks.

I get the option to eat, drink, and talk to my liking.

Except I'm not doing any of that, because I'm not hungry or thirsty and I have no friends.

Instead, I'm focused on Mirana.

She sits all the way across the room. She's in conversation with a blonde-haired girl who looked dazed and undisturbed. The girl stares at her with a lazy smile, as though both daydreaming and listening to Mirana speak.

I couldn't hear them at all because I was across a giant room filled with chattering people, but Mirana looked excited and happy as she told this girl the things on her mind. Out of nowhere, they both glanced at me for a split second. I looked away immediately.

Are they talking about me? My dad?

Was Mirana just talking to me thinking I would share information about my home life and family so she could tell everyone?

Is she one of those girls?

Maybe not... But I'm not too sure.

As I was staring at my empty plate (I'd not put any food onto it), out of the corner of my eye, I saw Mirana look over to me again. I looked at her and the girl.

They were smiling and waving kindly.

Normally, I hate eye contact. Especially for too long. But looking at Mirana was so easy... She was so pretty.

"Who are you staring at?" a voice said. Malfoy strut over to the table and sat across from me.

I rolled my eyes and pointed. "Her."

"The brunette? She looks dead."

"I know." That's, for some reason, why I like her.

"Do you even know her name?"

"Of course I know her name."

"And you're staring at her and not me?"

"Are you that full of yourself, Malfoy?"

"A bit, yeah."

"Your life is sad, you know that?"

"Yes, Black, but yours will soon be worse."

"And what, exactly, do you mean by that, Malfoy?"

He smirked. "And here I was, thinking you were so clever."

I narrowed my eyes at him. "You're a bit mean, you know."

"Oh, no," he exclaimed dramatically, "where ever did you get that information from? I'm so terribly distraught by this!"

He thinks he's so funny, doesn't he?

"Shut the fuck up."

"Make me." He leered at me.

"You'd like that, wouldn't you?"

I felt like leaving. So, I did. Sort of.

My feet apparently like carrying me places I don't care for visiting, so the next thing I knew, I was at the Ravenclaw table. I don't know why I was there because I've met one person from Ravenclaw; and yet, there I was, standing right across from where Mirana was laughing with the blonde-haired girl, who seemed to only chuckle quietly and smile.

"Hello," she suddenly said. I wasn't expecting her to say something to me. Her voice was light and airy, like it had wings and could fly away gently, leaving everything perfectly untouched as it went.

"Hi," I replied, smiling slightly. I don't know who this is or how to talk to her.

But it's as though she read my mind, because the next thing she said was, "I'm Luna Lovegood. Have you read the latest issue of The Quibbler?"
