Marissa woke up to the sunrise beaming into her room. She slowly arose from her bed and put on her clothes that had been laid out by her father before she had gotten to the old house. She went downstairs to greet her father for the morning and she soon got to the table and got breakfast. It was eggs with sausage and some pancakes on the side.

"The pancakes were made each with love." Her father stated with a grin on his face. Marissa looked down at the food took her first bite of the freshly made scrambled eggs. Her mouth was overflowed with the wonderful taste of her fathers eggs. He had always made them differently compared to Marissa's mother. They tasted like mini fireworks going off in her mouth with each bite.

With the last bite of her food she sat back into her chair. Marissa had the look of satisfaction on her face. She said her thank you's and then went up stairs to take time to read a book she had brought from her trip. She laid down on her bed with her arms wrapped around her body pillow. She reached out for her book on the window seal and started to flip through the pages. The sent of the pages went through her nostrils. She smiled at the capture of the killer.

The pages let her escape when she was at her mom's house. The pages raised her in some aspects of life. The books and video games helped escape from the place she never really wanted to call home. She spent most of her hours reading or playing games when she was with her mother. She kept reading and soon enough she realized she missed lunch and it was now 4:37 p.m. She could hear her father yell.

"Honey want to play a board game"

"Yeah sure which one"

"Monopoly"

"Heck yeah" with those words escaping her lips she ran down the wooden stairs to be greeted by her kind and loving father. Her and her father played for about a hour and a half then her father went bankrupt. She look at her father with the widest grin and she chuckled when her dad start to call her a cheater in a joking manner.

"Alright, alright you win now I need to order dinner." Marissa's father left the dining room to order the food while she went back up to her room to continue her book. The victims were found that the once free criminal killed while he was still a beginner.

Marissa's eyes started to grow heavy and her heart slowed. She started to put down her book, and started to close her green eyes. She smiles one time before she drifted to far into sleep hoping for a good dream, but that was far from what really happened.

Marissa looked around the pale figure standing in front of her. It had no face or and features at all, it was just there starring into her soul. She felt a burning sensation on her wrist, neck, ankles, and stomach. She looked down in terror seeing the crimson blood poor from each wound. She started to black out and everything went silent.

"Dad where are you?" She thought. She woke from her nightmare and sat up faster then the speed of light. Her body and pajamas were soaked in sweat.
