Note:This happens after Light's death in the last name when Ryuk wrote Light's name on the Death note and L has only 23 days to live.
Misa was devastated after Light's death. She couldn't bare being without her Light .She had no reason to live anymore. Everything in her life was taken away. Even her freedom!!!
The female police officer forcefully held Misa in both hands attempting to put in handcuffs while Soichiro was holding Light's dead body in his arms. Ryuk left back to the Shinigami realm and was never seen again.
L: I will dispose both Death notes!!
L was holding both Death notes in his hand. Then all of a sudden Misa forcefully let go of the female police officer and ran towards L grabbing both Death notes. L didn't react in any way and the rest of the task force including Matsuda and Soichiro stared at her.
Misa: I can't live anymore without my Light!!! Writing my name in the Death note is the only way I can see him again!
Misa was literally broken. The task force felt so bad to see her in this condition. Matsuda grew worried for Misa and attempted to stop her but she just didn't listen.
Misa: Everybody go home!!! Let me die in peace next to Light!!!!
Misa takes an ink pen from her pocket and very eagerly starts writing her name down . The pen dragged along the rough pages spelling out the words AMANE MI......and the name remain incomplete due to the interruption of a certain voice from nearby.
L : Misa-san do you really want to do this?? Is this what Light-kun wanted??
Misa looks at the familiar face shocked with wide eyes, almost dropping the pen
Misa: How do you know what Light wanted??
L : He was my friend but unfortunately he happened to be Kira so he had to die sooner or later!!
She shouted at L with rage
Misa: If you were really his friend you would have supported him throughout !! Instead you betrayed him!!
This made L a bit mad but he tried to talk to Misa in a calm tone
L : I never betrayed him!! I just didn't agree with his way of justice!!
Misa: I don't care what you say anymore!! Light is already dead!!!! So you can't change anything!!!
L : Misa-san, That's what I'm trying to tell you!! Writing your name will not change anything!!!
Misa: Why do you care if I write my name??? Aren't you not happy if the second Kira dies too?? Why did you write your name then???
Misa starts tearing up
Misa: Why L??? Why?? Wasn't there anything you could have done instead???
L : I had to write it! It was going to be the last name written in the Death note. It was the only way to avoid being killed by Kira!!! It was a small sacrifice. Anyways I will die 23 days later.
Misa starts to take the pen from the floor to finish her incomplete name when she immediately stops as she starts breaking down into tears.
Misa: I can't.......do it...*Sobs*
After a couple of seconds Misa felt a pair of arms wrapped tightly around her. It was L!!!! He held her as if he was protecting an innocent being from this cruel, evil world.
L : You poor thing......I'm so sorry for everything that you had to go through Misa-san......You tried your best and that's all that matters! Don't cry Misa-san!! Please!!!
L's soft spoken words left Misa in shock with more tears in her eyes. She didn't expect L to be so caring . Misa starts to develop a slight smile even though she was still crying
Misa : L......
L : Misa-san will you promise me something?
Misa was puzzled at that sudden question
Misa : What is it L??
L : Please say yes!!
L starts to say that with a cracked voice as if he was going to start crying
L : Promise me that you will not die
Misa couldn't bare to see L's face like that.
Misa: Yes! I promise
L starts a tearful smile
L: Yokatta desu! - I'm glad
The warm embrace made Misa feel loved and cared for again. It reminded her of how much her parents used to hug her whenever she used to feel down. It finally made her believe that the world that she was living in wasn't always as rotten like she thought it was and there are still some people in this world who care for her and that she wasn't a nobody like she always said she was. Maybe it was the way Light had treated her that made her feel like a nobody.She now realized that she will continue to live for L and as long as L is living, he will make sure that Misa feels loved, secure and at home.
