Fenton Works, three days later.

Danny's family and friends sat around the living room somewhat awkwardly. Before she and Danny's parents had even actually discussed anything she had accidentally slipped up and had called Danny 'Fenton'. That had led to a whole emotional situation where Danny had revealed himself to his parents and the shouting and crying had begun. Ember's reaction was to bolt, not wanting to be caught up in it.

Now that everything had settled down Emily had shown up to actually talk with the Fentons. "Right, so... Um... Where should I start?" Emily was looking around the room, her cheeks a dark red color. Danny had to admit that she was actually kinda cute when she was embarrassed.

There was silence for a moment before Maddie spoke up. "How about we start by having you explain how you managed to regain a human form after death?"

Danny sat up a bit straighter. "Yeah, you never really told us how you did it, all you said was that you made a deal with a powerful Ghost."

Ember winced. "I uh... Do I really have to?"

"Young lady, if we're going to do this there needs to be at least some level of trust." Maddie continued to look at Emily for a moment before deciding that maybe that wasn't something the girl was ready to share. "However I suppose we can come back to that. How about you explain some of the things that Danny told us about in greater detail."

Emily let out a sigh of relief.. "Yeah, let's do that." Danny frowned in disappointment.

"Danny said that there are multiple varieties of Ghost, could you possibly go into greater detail?"

Emily nodded. "Yeah sure, that's easy. There are two types of ways ghosts are formed. The first is really simple, death. When something or someone dies, there's a chance that instead of moving on, they'll come back as a Ghost."

Maddie took out a note book. "Only a chance? So not everyone becomes a Ghost?"

"Nope. As far as I can tell it isn't anything as simple as 'unfinished business' like in books and on tv. It seems to be more along the lines of suffering a sudden or violent death like mine, or dying in a state of heightened negative emotions, like Desiree. There are exceptions though, like the Dairy King. No one's sure why he's a Ghost. As for animals... Well, it seems to be random for them."

"I see..." Maddie made a quick note. "And the other way that Ghosts are formed?"

Emily frowned. "That's a litte harder to explain. See, Ghosts like Undergrowth and Vortex were never alive to begin with. They're more like... Concepts that the Zone has given a form. We like to call them Spirits, since they technically aren't ghosts."

Maddie nodded, it would make sense that such beings wouldn't be referred to as Ghosts, see as how they were never alive to begin with. "And how exactly does one tell the difference between Ghosts and Spirits?"

"Well... The most basic indicator is that Ghosts look almost identical to humans and animals, except we're,  ya know, ghostly. Spirits don't really look human, there  and then there's the feeling they give off. Basically, the more human or animal-like they appear, the more likely it is that they're a Ghost."

"With some exceptions right? Like Fright Knight and Clockwork." Emily nodded toward Danny.

"Right."
