Chapter one
I've always been the 'weird' kid, the other kids didn't like me because I would act differently. It wasn't because I was overly shy, or I was really loud and annoying. But it was because I wasn't afraid to be myself, I wasn't afraid to stand up for what I believed in.
I still remember the day we moved to Hayloft Arizona. It was Wednesday, June, 6th 2007. I was six years old and my parents had just split up.
My mother drove us to a small red brick house with a small garden and a broken dog house. "Look, mommy! There's a home for moose already!" Moose, hearing his name, barked and pawed at the door "I'm sorry Wednesday, but we are going to have to get him a new house. Don't you see, that one is broken."
I pressed my face up against the glass on the car window "oh, ok mommy. Can we go look inside please? Please please?" mom nodded her head and said "yes just a minute, we have to wait for the moving truck to get here. It should have been right behind us."
I slump down in my seat and start to pout. "Wednesday." my mom said with a warning tone in her voice "what did I tell you about pouting?" I sniff and say "to not, but mommy I've been in this car for hours and it's too hot and I'm tired."
Just then the moving truck pulled in behind us and two men and one woman got out of the car and walked over to us. The taller man spoke up and said "is this the Daeigh house?" my mother nodded and opened the car door. Moose dashed out of the car and ran up to the movers. I unbuckled my seatbelt and jumped out of the car.
I ran up to the door and attempted to open the door "mommy the door is locked!" My mom sighed and walked up to the door. She turned towards the movers and said "I'm sorry about Wednesday, she's an impatient child." The woman spoke up and said "It's ok, I have a daughter of my own and she is also impatient."
The other man opened the back of the moving van and said "where do you want all of this stuff to go?" my mom shrugs and says "I honestly don't know, just put it wherever it fits. Normally my husband would know where to..." my moms voice trailed off and she shook her head "Nevermind, just put it wherever you want"
The movers nodded and started grabbing boxes to bring inside. My mom unlocked the door and stepped inside.
