Alexander
Alaina asked to see our parents' graves last night. There are so many mixed emotions going through my head right now.
"Why do you think mom hid this from us?" Alana asked while looking through the files. I wasn't really sure how to answer her when I was just as confused myself. "I'm not sure but I promise we will find out," I said while holding back tears.Alana left for school while I continued to search through mom and dad's things. Graduating a year early wasn't such a bad idea after all. I was always labeled the "nerd" because I was always ahead of the class. My parents used to tell me to ignore them. I guess I should have listened.
"I found the box!' I yelled, forgetting nobody was around to hear me, besides Alaina of course. After taking a second to get my head together, I opened the box and found baby pictures of Alana and I. "Alaina?" I said as I read the back of the photo. It wasn't Alana and I after all, none of these were.
Hours had gone by and it was finally time to pick Alana up from school. After losing our parents, boy do I miss her when she's away.
"Can we take Alaina to see mom and dad today?" Alana asked while getting in the car.
"I'm not sure that's something we can do right now sis. There's some more things we have to go over today." I replied, trying to hold everything in.Alana and I picked up food from AJ'S Restaurant & Bar since it was our favorite place to eat with Mom and Dad. The ladder was already in the hallway for when we were ready to face this all again.
As we climbed up Alaina was crying in the corner. She immediately jumped up and ran towards us, not able to control her emotions, tears streaming down her face even more than than just were."I thought you guys were leaving forever!" Alaina cried as she ran to Lana. I'm trying to piece together everything I found today. Do I tell Lana about the pictures I found? Why did Alaina tell us she had never left the attic if that's not true? I'm starting to wonder if it's safe for Lana to be up here, there are too many family secrets I'm finding out about, and Alana is my top priority.
"We brought you food from our favorite place! I got you the same thing I normally get so I hope you're hungry!" Lana yelled with excitement. She started telling Alaina about her day at school as if they had been friends for years. They are twins so I guess it makes sense. We all talked for hours about our favorite things until I realized, I'm the grown up now.
"Lana, it's time to get some rest. I lost track of time and you have school tomorrow." I said with a concerned tone.
"You always ruin things for me Alexander! Just let me have one good thing! I have a sister I never knew about and you're taking it all away!" Lana yelled as she rushed out of the attic.
I feel defeated. Is this how mom and dad felt?
