It's dark and I can barely see anything. I tried to ease my breathing as I hid under the bed. Everything is silent, except for the rapid rhythm of my heartbeat. I clutch my weapon close to my chest ready to use it.

I close my eyes and say a silent prayer. Praying that they won't find me but that was short-lived. She came into the room and I could hear her calling for me to come out.

"Y/N, come out, come out wherever you arrreee." She sings.

I covered my mouth with my free hand to be sure she didn't hear me breathing.  However, I don't think it worked.

"Are you under the bed?" She asked.

She began to get down on one knee getting ready to look under the bed. I shut my eyes tight as if that would make me disappear.

I began to say another silent prayer hoping that it would work this time and behold it worked.

A loud noise came from downstairs causing her to quickly get up and make her way toward the sound.

I took this time, to get out from under the bed and move to a different location in the house.

I move silently, trying my hardest not to make a sound. I made it to the stairs without being caught.

It's so dark in here I can barely see where I'm going but it's a good thing I have a good sense of where everything is in this house.

Step by step, I descend the staircase, my senses on high alert. Every creak of the wooden steps feels amplified in the silence, and I hold my breath, fearing it might give me away. My heart pounds louder and louder, echoing in my ears. I reach the bottom of the stairs and scan the dimly lit living room, shadows dancing eerily across the walls.

Suddenly, I hear a soft rustle behind me. I whirl around, weapon poised, but there's nothing there. Just the curtains swaying gently by the open window. I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding and pressed forward.

The kitchen is just ahead, and I decide it's my best bet for another hiding spot. I slip inside, crouching behind the island, and strain my ears for any sign of her. The silence is unnerving, and I wonder where she could be. My grip tightens on my weapon, my knuckles turning white.

Then, I hear it. The unmistakable sound of footsteps, slow and deliberate, approaching the kitchen. My heart leaps into my throat as the footsteps stop right outside. I brace myself, ready to make a run for it if necessary.

Suddenly, the kitchen door swings open, and the room is flooded with light. I squint, momentarily blinded, and then I see her. Dinah stands in the doorway, a triumphant smile on her face, her weapon aimed directly at me. A Savage Spin Semi-Auto Foam Dart Blaster  45-Dart Triple-Drum Motorized Foam Dart Gun.

"Gotcha," she says, her voice dripping with satisfaction.

I raise my weapon, but it's too late. Before I can react, Dinah fires, the soft thud of the Nerf dart hitting me square in the chest. I look down at the bright orange foam dart stuck to my shirt and let out a defeated sigh.

"Fine, you win," I say, standing up and dropping my weapon.

Dinah laughs, lowering her Nerf gun and walking over to me. She wraps her arms around my neck, her laughter infectious.

"You put up a good fight," she says, kissing my lips. "But you know I always win."

I can't help but smile, despite my defeat. "Yeah, yeah. Next time, I'll get you."

"We'll see about that," she teases, pulling away and giving me a playful wink.

As we clean up the scattered Nerf darts and reset the house, I can't help but feel a rush of excitement. The danger may not have been real, but the thrill of the game and the bond it strengthens between us is more than enough. And who knows? Next time, I might just come out on top.

This was just a lil sometin' somethin'. I thought it was cute. But as always, until next time see ya.😚
