A knock on the door made Fawn pull herself from the work she was doing. As she opened the door expecting to see Nyx. She saw a concerned scout fairy. "Do you need something?" Fawn asked feeling anxious.
The scout looked her in the eyes as she spoke, "It's about Nyx. She was on patrol with me and we saw a trap near autumn meadow and it was made of iron she didn't notice a gash on her glove and she was burned, and nearly fell out of the air. She is at the healers." The scout rushed the words out. Fawn barely understand anything the scout said. Fawn looked around "Come in. It will be easier to talk inside. The scout nodded and stepped inside.
Fawn and Nyx's house was clean but also had a homely feel to it. The animal fairy asked her "So what happened to Nyx?". "She was on patrol with me and we saw a trap near autumn meadow and it was made of iron. She didn't notice the gash in one of her gloves. She was burned by the iron. She nearly fell out of the sky. I caught her and took her to the healers. She will be fine. But she will need to stop doing scout duty for a while." The scout fairies wings drooped in pity.
Fawn's face whent pale. She told the scout to leave so she could process what she told her. The sound of the door closing told her that the scout was gone. She finally let her emotions go as she cried knowing the pain of being burned by iron. It felt like liquid fire was pouring into her soul burning her from the inside out.
Fawn had horrid nightmares that night. Waking up in a cold sweat before feeling around the bed for Nyx. Then she remembered that she was at the healer's.
