i hate heights but had saw how scared gyeong-su had looked, besides, he wasn't really one to be able to take care of himself. as i climbed down the hose i went past a group of zombies who were banging onto the window. i jumped as i climbed down faster, my legs shaking just by looking down and seeing how high up i was. i thought i was going to be sick until something happened.

"y/n?" a familiar voice called. i looked just below me and saw ms park looking through the window. i looked down and shot her a small smile as she helped me into the room. she pulled me into a hug, "are there others with you?"

i nod my head and look upwards as ms park calls them down. gyeong-su is next to climb down, hugging ms park tightly. na-yeon is next to come followed by dae-su who seems happier than any of us to see ms park and is nearly crying. after dae-su comes ji-min then hyo-ryung and after that joon-yeong who claims to have a seriously bad leg cramp and falls straight to the floor, groaning in pain as the others tell him to straighten his leg. next comes wu-jin, who, straight away, pulls me into a hug, "i'm glad you're okay," he whispers into my ear, leaning down, which for some reason, gives me a funny but pleasant feeling in my stomach.

after nam-ra comes down it takes a while before on-jo comes along and we all help get her in safely. not long after on-jo comes in a window smashing can be heard from above and glass and zombies come falling down from outside the window. cheong-san is the only one not to have made it yet.

after a few moments of worrying, we spot cheong-san and su-hyeok holding onto the hose, su-hyeok practically hugging cheong-san.

"bare-su!" dae-su yells.

"he's okay! bare-su!"

"cheong-san!"

they all begin shouting and we manage to get them in safely.

"close the window! close the window, please!" na-yeon whines.

gyeong-su comes walking up to na-yeon and shouting, "didn't you see cheong-san coming in? we can't close it until he gets in!"

"is it wrong to say to close it?"

"is your own survival all that matters?"

"i can't stand you, stupid welfie."

everyone in the room pauses on what they were doing and give na-yeon all looks of disappointment and disgrace. gyeong-su rightfully pushes her to the floor as ms park comes over, "what's going on?"

"he just hit me."

"you called me a welfie first!"

"was i wrong?"

"what's a welfie?" ms park repeats this several times until finally su-hyeok answers in guilt.

"a person on welfare. 'welfie' for short."

ms park sighs and turns to na-yeon, "na-yeon you were wrong. don't you ever say that again," she then turns to gyeong-su, "and you, if you hit someone, then you're the one that loses. you understand what i mean, right? kids we shouldn't be fighting among ourselves at a time like this. we have no idea what's going on."

"aren't they zombies?"

"where are the other teachers?"

"did you call the cops?"

"i'm sure someone did," ms park answers, "i don't have my phone."

"we called too but they're not coming," cheong-san said.

"i'm sure they will. let's just wait here a little longer."

on-jo then speaks, "ms park, hyeon-ju's hands were cold. so were i-sak's. what if it started with her?

"she went to the hospital," hyo-ryung said worriedly.

"and what if she spread it there?" joon-yeong spoke up, "maybe that's why no one's coming."

joon-yeong then stands up from his seat, limping over to the computer,"this still works, right? excuse me ms park."

we all huddle around the computer in hope it will work. i notice wu-jin come up behind me then feel his warm breath on my neck as he crouches down to get a view of the computer. joon-yeong does multiple searches for 'emergency', 'hyosan', 'zombies' etc. but nothing comes up. dae-su then comes up with the idea to log into his instagram but when joon-yeong asks how many followers he has he changes the subject to 'check facebook'. they continue on the computer while my attention has been drawn to the hanging hose outside which appears to be moving. i walk past wu-jin who was behind me who has a curious look on his face too, and just as i'm close enough, the hose smashes into the window sending flying pieces of class into my face. i shoot my arms up to guard my face as i scream and fall back feeling sharp stings all over. wu-jin and gyeong-su both come running over to me, dragging me away from the window. wu-jin seats me over in the corner of the room, "shit, it's bad! someone help!"

joon-yeong comes over, "i know a bit of first aid, i'll deal with it. we're going to need to get the glass out-"

a zombie which is hanging on the hose manages to get through the window as everyone tries getting rid of it.

"they'll deal with it, it's okay," joon-yeong says shakily, "let's just get you fixed up."

i nod my head and look to wu-jin who looks very worried.

"hold her hand will you?" joon-yeong mumbles to wu-jin, "this is going to be painful."

wu-jin grabs my hand and i look him in the eyes. i squeeze my eyes shut as i feel joon-yeong gently removing the glass.

"we need something to be able to keep pressure on the wounds to stop it bleeding too much."

"here," wu-jin says, tearing a bit of his shirt off and handing it to joon-yeong then grabbing my hand again.

"some of them aren't so bad but there's one on your cheek that might leave a scar and almost certainly will need stitches as soon as we can get you to a doctor."

i nod my head as he pulls out the last small pieces on my nose and i flinch in pain; as he's doing so, i hear the others still struggling with the crisis.

"okay all done, you were very brave, y/n," joon-yeong says while awkwardly putting his hand on my knee as i notice wu-jin looking at where his hand is in... maybe slight jealousy?

i look in the direction of the others and see gyeong-su throwing the computer at the zombie, getting it away.

everyone sighs in relief, patting gyeong-su on the back and telling him 'good thinking'.

"you okay?" wu-jin asks me.

"yeah, i'm okay, wu-jin," i speak. the boy looks down at the floor and smiles to himself. this is the first time i've spoken to anyone at this school, and i'm glad it was to wu-jin. wu-jin's hands rest on his lap and that's when i decide to be bold. i grab one of his hands, holding it, and resting our enclosed hands on my lap. i feel him tense up slightly but then relax. and when i look in his direction, he's sat there, smiling at me. i smile back and look away.

"gyeong-su, your nose is bleeding," cheong-san says.
