I Saw Red

Chapter 2

The End of Happiness part 2:
Blaze (age 6)
We make it back to the cottage and head inside. After I warmed up near the fireplace Mommy asks "How are you feeling, sweetie?"

"Better." I say while wrapping myself in a blanket. Mommy sits in her chair beside me. "Did you have fun?" Mommy asks.

"Yeah it was really fun...ACHOO!" I sneezed. Mommy giggles. She looks out toward the window, notices it's getting darker outside and says "Time for bed" while signaling me to go and get ready. I go to my room and change into a nightgown and I climb onto my bed. 'Ah~ I love the night it's so peaceful, pretty, and....quit ' I thought, while looking out my window and admiring the stars.

"Goodnight. Sweet dreams, Blaze." Mommy said standing in my doorway. "Goodnight" I said as my eyelids were getting heavy, drifting me into a deep sleep. Who would of thought that those words were to be on the very last night Mommy and I spend with each other.

'Bang!!' I was woken up by a loud noise. "Open up the door!Now!" I heard a man yell. Mommy rushes out of her room and into mine. "Go back to sleep Blaze, everything's going to be alright. Mommy's going to see who's there and what they want." she says with a hint of worry expressed through her eyes.

"But--" before I could say any more Mommy cuts me off "No 'Buts' stay in your room. Mommy will be right back." and with that shes closes the door. I do what Mommy says and stay in my room. I hear what sounds like arguing but the sounds are muffled because of the door. Curiosity takes over me as I try understand what their saying, by placing my ear on the door.

"Where is he!?" a man yells. "I'm not telling you anything!! Get the hell out!!" Mommy yells back. Then I hear what sounds like glass breaking and things being thrown around. I get worried, then I hear Mommy scream. Without thinking I rush out of my room, I instantly regret doing so.

I see the living room torn to bits and some traces of blood on the floor. I also see three scary men searching for something, and I see Mommy on the floor. I'm to scared to scream. I carefully walk over to Mommy, while the three men are searching another room, luckily they didn't notice me. I hold back tears that are trying to escape my eyes, when I see that Mommy's head had a stream of blood dripping from her forehead. "M-Mommy?" I carefully whisper.

"B-Blaze..." Mommy whispers, while regaining consciousness. She realizes what's going on and her eyes quickly open and she forces herself up. "Mommy what's going on? Why are there scary people here?" I whisper as calmly as I can, trying not to alert the men in the other room. "Shh..Blaze, it's gonna be OK. I'll explain it to you later." Mommy says, noticing little tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Don't cry, it's going to be alright." Mommy whispers while giving a reassuring smile. I try to calm down, but it doesn't work because I hear footsteps approaching the living room. My heart beat is exhilarating as the steps become louder, practically matching my heart beat. My heart stops when the scary man sees us. "Get them!!" he yells at the other scary men, and they encircle us.

'Great...More people. More trouble. More fun...heeheehee' I hear a strange voice giggle. 'What?' I thought. I looked around trying to figure out who said that. No luck, so I ignore it. Noticing one of the scary men trying to grab me, I try to run. It doesn't work because he quickly jerks me back. "Mommy!" I yell in fear.

"Let her go!! She has nothing to do with this!!" Mommy yells in anger, while one of the men grab her. "Shut up!!" he yells and smacks her in the face and she falls to the ground. "Don't worry we'll take good care of her..." the third man grins. "Mommy..!" I yell trying to break free from the scary man's grasp, that only makes him hold tighter. Mommy gets up and yells "I said let her go!!!" the two men restrain her but she fights back, punching one of them in the jaw causing him to stumble back. 'Wow~~. This is getting good~, wonder how it ends?...heehee' I hear the strange voice snicker again.

I start to panic while looking for where the voice was coming from, again no luck. My mind is quickly taken back when I hear a cry of pain.

Again I am sorry that I drag this story on! Please forgive me. And I PROMISE I will end this part in the next Chapter: )
