A love worth the wait

he opened the passenger door of his car for me. i couldn't believe it was finally happening. i had fantasized this moment for so long... too long...and it was finally here... 

he got in and started up the car. i was looking out the window and in the reflection i saw him looking at me smiling. 

"do you want to hook up your phone to the speakers?" he said smirking

"really?!" i was all about music... and he knew.

i got out my phone and handed it to him to set up. he handed it back and i turned on my play list. i instantly started mouthing along to all the words. we watched with an enchanting expression before he rolled down the windows and pulled out of the parking lot. 

we drove along the road, my blonde curls where flying every witch way, and i didn't care. it was my favorite thing to do. it made me feel so free. like gravity itself had no control of me. my favorite song turned on. i quickly turned to mason with the biggest smile on my face. he knew exactly what i was thinking. he turned up the volume and smiled as he watched me slightly dancing and singing along. 

the song ended as we pulled into the Jimmy Jones drive threw. 

several years ago we had a  "team building" activity  and we had to share things about ourselves. we answered questions like your favorite comfort food (jimmy Jones sandwitch and doctor pepper icee) . your favorite place (on top of the hill over looking our city) . favorite things to do (listen to music). odd things you enjoy (driving around with the windows down).... and he was hitting all of them. 

once we got our food from the drive though, we  went across the street to the gas station and he got me a Dr pepper icee. my face was light up with so much joy and he had the cutest expression of pure admiration. 

we drove up to my favorite spot on top of the mountain. we got out and sat down on the bench facing the ledge overlooking the beautiful city. the sun was setting and i was all over it. i stared off in the distance breath taken by its pure beauty and stillness. 

"inst it just amazing! this right here is the definition of breath taking beauty! there is nothing like it!" i said looking into  his eyes for a second before looking back out at the view. he was looking at me just smiling.

"that exactly what i think when i see you..." he said reaching out for my waist and sliding me next to him. i rested my head on his chest as he held me close in his arms. 

" i have dreamed of this for so long... i.. i don't know what to think now that its finally happening." i said looking up at him.

" i can say the same thing... about you. from the moment i met you, you were always something new... something  that'd id never seen before. i wanted you... and now i have you."  he squeezed me in his arms, and kissed the top of my head.
