"What?!" I ask, suddenly.
Finn stares at me blankly, knowing that I heard exactly what he said, waiting for a response.
"Well...no. I mean...I was in love with him." I reply while looking away to the beautiful water.
"What do you mean, you 'were' in love with him?"
I feel his eyes burning holes at the side of my face while i'm still looking at the water. "He's cheating on me." I just blurt out. That's not at all what I wanted to say, or how I wanted to say it. The silence grew louder than ever so I look over to see Finn's reaction.
"Y/n, wow, i'm so sorry to hear that. I'm sorry for asking."
"No, it's fine. I don't mind talking about it."
"Well, then if it's okay for me asking, how did you find out? Better question, why are you still with him?"
I can see that Finn's not impressed at all that i'm still with Daniel. "Well, a little while ago, a friend of ours reached out and told me they saw him with a girl. Fast forward a couple weeks later, I went through his phone and that's when I saw he was cheating." I chuckle a little out of embarrassment and anxiousness.
"I was planning on confronting him when I was ready to, but I never got the chance." I finish, looking away to the water once again, to avoid seeing Finn's expression.
"I'm really sorry." Is all he lets out after a sigh.
I turn to him and grab his hand with a warm smile on my face, because words can't really describe how i feel right now. "What about you though, what about her?" I ask changing the subject.
"What about her?" he asks, with a smirk.
I smile and slap his arm playfully. "Come on! You know what I mean. Do you love her?" I ask him, looking deep into his hazel eyes.
"No."
"Are you just saying that?" I reply, questioning him.
"No. We haven't been going out for very long. It's kind of a casual thing. Nothing serious." He keeps eye contact. I know Finn well enough to know that he won't keep eye contact if he's lying. He squeezes my hand tighter and shifts his body closer to mine. We sit in silence for a few moments while the post rain sunlight warms up our bodies. It was really such a beautiful day. He made it such a beautiful day.
"You know, I remember the way your hair had a bit of red in it, and the way the sun was making it glow, right in the morning before you left, I missed that. Shit, I'm really crazy." I say, blushing and reminiscing of that morning.
"Now I know for sure why I went on tour - so you might actually show up at one of my concerts and I'd walk over to you and ask, 'hey, where the fuck were you?!" He says laughing, causing me to laugh as well.
"Honestly, did you think I'd be here today?" I pan over to see his face, fully.
"I'm not kidding - I think somewhere in the back of my mind I went on this tour to find you somehow."
"I know it's not true, but that is sweet to say."
"I think it is true." He continues, "What did you think the chances of us seeing each other again were?" He asks.
"After that December, I'd say almost zero, but we're not real anyway. We are just characters in that old lady's dream - she's on her deathbed and she's fantasizing about her youth, so of course we had to meet again." I joke.
