I'm reviewing this book first because this made me curious about the other books and series.

This was the first Dawnesque book that I read and completed after knowing the author.

This story is about Qi Chengzhi and Song Yu.

Song Yu was once engaged to Qi Chengzhi's younger brother Chengji, when she was younger but the arrangement failed when Chengji got into an accident and dies (but in reality he did not), and the Song family gets bankrupt.

Qi Chengzhi makes his move on Song Yu 6 years after the bankruptcy. Song Yu is now an architect engineer and she comes in contact with Qi Chengzhi again when she needs the contract to design the Qi family's new resort.

Qi Chengzhi, our shameless male lead kisses her pretending to be Song Yu's boyfriend in front of her old classmates. And then goes to her apartment one night pretending that he needs something to discuss with her, (because he knew that Song Yu was having a family dinner at her parents' house and her crush was there too) and kisses her again pretending to be asleep.(This man!🤦🏿‍♀️)

Oh and yes! The crush!

Song Yu had a crush on this guy named Jian Yi because she thinks that he saved her from drowning when she was 14. Although later it turns out that it was Qi Chengzhi who had saved her, and all her life she had been in love with the wrong person.

Jian Yi marries Qi Chengzhi's younger cousin, Qi Chengyue, for social position and wealth. Their marriage however fails as he only had eyes for Song Yu.

Song Yu eventually falls for Qi Chengzhi after suffering a heartbreak when she finds out that Jian Yi was marrying Chengyue. When Song Yu agrees to be Qi Chengzhi's girlfriend, mannnn.... He showed off to the other bachelors in the 8x8=64 group chat in WeChat. There was only one married couple in that group. Wei Ziqi and Wei Ran. Wei Ziqi is of the same age as Qi Chengzhi. Wei Ran and Song Yu are friends and were once classmates.(Sishen 4 spoiler!😉)

Wei Ziqi and Wei Ran have two children now: Wei Muran and Wei Muche. Their married life is blissful and Wei Ziqi is still possesive and looks like he still dislikes Qi Chengji!😂

Qi Chengzhi had a nephew, the son of his younger cousin, Qi Chenglin, named Qi Youxuan who asks Song Yu to become his stepmother because she's too kind compared to his old and cunning uncle.

Song Yu moves in with Qi Chengzhi, and later make their relationship public. Her parents were not that happy but later on accepted their relationship. While the Qi family were all against it. Only Qi Chengzhi's grandmother accepted their relationship in the beginning. Qi Chengzhi emotional blackmails his family who desperately wanted him to get married that, he was already 34 and nearing 35, and if it isn't Song Yu, he won't marry anyone else and his family can stop dreaming of seeing him getting married and having children.

Qi Chengzhi's mother, Xia Wenna, tries to matchmake Chengzhi and Song Yu's younger cousin, thinking that Qi Chengzhi liked younger girls.

Qi Chengzhi then takes his mother to his study where he shows her some documents that mentions that he was behind the Song Family's bankruptcy.

When Qi Chengzhi was studying abroad, the Qi and Song families had arranged for Song Yu and Qi Chengji to marry when they grew older. Qi Chengzhi was totally against it, but the Qi family did not change their mind so when he returned back to China and was the headmaster of Jixia Academy, he slowly attacked the Song Family to bankruptcy to stop the marriage alliance.
