There was ice everywhere. Mom had quit her job to take care of me. I had come home from school and finished my homework.

"mom I'm going out to play."

"be careful, it's icy."

I ran out the door and started to play in the snow. The Neighborhood kids came out and we had a snowball fight. After about two hours of play, the sun began to set. One by one everyone went home. I was the last one to go home. I walked home and thought about what we had earned today in class.

"2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18 uh uh 19. No. 20. 22, twen------" I had slipped. I laid there  aching in pain. A car drove by, It was dad's car. The car stopped and he came out. He picked me up and placed me in the back seat of his warm car. The heat made the pain go away quicker. Blood ran along my arm. I had 3 little cuts, that would not stop bleeding. He parked the car in our driveway and carried me inside. He placed me down on the couch and brought out the first aid box. He applied some antiseptic cream and band-aids. I gave him a superficial hug and thanked him. Then I ran to mom telling her what happened.
