You were just exploring the facility since you don't remeber anything and you saw. The place was trashed by the subjects and gootraxains.
You don't know how you remembered where the secret room. You encountered more gootraxains but they didn't see you so you just sneaked past them. You're sure some saw you but they didn't care, one saw you and started to chase you,more started to join the chase and you were already tired.
