Emshurst is a northeastern American city partially split by a large river, the Squannock, and a smaller tributary river called the Emerson. The Squannock River borders 2/3rds of the town and the Emerson river cuts through the western portion. The Merveilles Mountains ring the east, and its namesake valley and forest make up the rest of the city's surroundings. Within that valley is Grey's Lake, along with somewhat clear walking trails. There are a few pedestrian and road bridges crossing the Emerson to keep the city together, but only a singular highway, Route 88, crosses the Squannock and winds through the forest to the next town. It is the only way to drive from the rest of Emshurst to the easternmost portion of town called 'Hurste' as well. The only other option is by ferry. The general topography of the area has moderate hills and valleys with a temperate climate and decent snow/rain coverage.

Emshurst is blessed with a mid-sized city population and a rich history. Originally 2 separate settlements called "Emerson" and "Hurste" with the construction of the highway there was the decision to join together and become one town- and later city. Some say it's as cursed as Salem, Massachusetts and otherwise unremarkable- and some say it was here before the colonies, and therefore a town of critical study. Regardless of rumors, or perhaps inspired by them, Emshurst and its titular university get new residents and visitors every year; the economy of the city doesn't do half bad either. Many residents will thank Uraeus Corp, which established its North American Headquarters here and helped build much of the downtown area, for that.

You close the pamphlet and look up at the sound of a commanding voice. It seemed a tour guide had arrived.
