Chapter 4 'Talk with Dad' (Dom)

Chapter4

Friday night lights... Time to play... The team tonight was another pack team. That meant we could play at full strength without having to worry about causing permanent damage if we tackle to hard. I could feel the electricity in the locker room, and even from the crowd outside. It was a home game so they introduced the away team before playing our intro song. We ran out busting through the paper banner the cheerleaders had made for us.

I looked over at the stands and immediately found Cyrus and his parents sitting with the rest of my family. I saw him waving at me. I held up my helmet and waved back at him. Thankfully, people thought that I was waving to the crowd as a whole. The whole crowd started screaming their excitement. My co-captain and I headed to center field for the coin toss; he was the fullback, and a senior. We won it and chose offense first. After a quick huddle with our coach we headed to the field to start the game.

It was a tough game, but we won 17-13. Games against pack teams were always more satisfying because we were able to go all out against them. We headed to the locker room for our post-game team meeting. As soon as coach finished hollering about the win, we hit the showers.

I joined my family after I exited the locker room. Of course, Cyrus was the first to see me. He held his arms out for me to take him from his Dad. 

"Nicky! I saw you playing! It was so cool!"

"You did? Well, I am glad you liked it. Maybe you will get to play next season and then I can come watch you."

"You pwamise?"

"Yes, Little One, I promise to be at every game I can possibly go to."

"Yea! Daddy did you hear that? Nicky said that he would watch me play."

"I did hear him say that. We will have to see what we can do about getting you into sports."

He laid his head on my shoulder content with the extracted promise. I looked to my parents. "The guys and I are starving so we were thinking of going and grabbing a bite to eat to celebrate. Is it okay if I go?"

"That's fine, just be mindful of curfew."

"Don't worry Dad, I will make sure we are back by then."

"Who said you could come, Tessy?"

"It's only fair, Sandy's going too."

I sighed in exasperation. "Fine."

"Can I go too, Nicky?"

"Maybe another night, Son. It's almost your bedtime."

"You heard your dad, Little One. Maybe I can take you out with your new friends tomorrow. If it is okay with your parents."

He turned his head to look at his dad. "Pwease, Daddy? Can we?"

"Sure, if you promise to behave."

"I will Daddy! I pwamise!" We all said our good byes and I loaded him in his parents van. Tessy and I headed to my truck where the guys and Sandy were waiting for us.

"Babe's?" I asked the group. It was an all-you-can-eat restaurant- perfect for post-game wolves.

I got responses of "Fuck yeah!", "Hell's yeah!", and "Let's GOOO!!" from the guys.

"Alright lets load up and head out!" We pulled up to the restaurant about eight thirty and headed in.

We were seated at a table in the back corner. The waitress came and took our drink order and asked if we knew what we wanted. We gave her our order of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, carrots, squash, and a mix of biscuits and cornbread. She walked off to put in our order. She soon returned with our drinks.
