I awoke Monday morning, and just laid in bed for a minute going over the last thirty-six hours. I was excited to have found my mate, but unsure of how the next 13 years would go because of who it had turned out to be. I needed a plan- something that would take the focus off Cyrus until he was older. I decided I should talk it over with Dad.

I got up and dressed since I'd showered last night. The kitchen was a mad house when I got there. I was the last of my siblings to have made it down, so I walked into see my eight brothers and three sisters fighting with each other to get breakfast as fast as the housekeeper could finish making it. Of course, Tessy was trying to be motherly towards everyone and get them to calm down. She was good about stuff like that, always being supportive and encouraging, but that approach doesn't soothe a room of hungry wolves.

"That never works. I don't know why you keep trying."

She looked at me, exasperated. "Because one day it will work and I don't want to miss the day it does. If you are done staring, you could help."

I looked around ateveryone in the room. "Alright guys back it up and go sit down. You have to let her cook it if you want to eat it. Raw food is not good for our human sides."

Rosetta thanked me for getting them to back off so that she could finish breakfast. Once done she loaded the pancakes, sausage, and bacon onto plates and set them out to be served. She then placed a special plate in front of me. I looked down to see my pancakes had blueberries, pecans, and chocolate chips in them- my favorite. She did not normally make me a special plate but every once in awhile I got lucky.

"Thanks Rosie!"

"Not a problem, Dominic. Thank you for helping wrangle the others."

My joy was short-lived. I suddenly remembered that I still had Cy's booster seat in my truck. Instead of enjoying my special plate, I scarfed it down in a hurry. I gave my dishes a quick rinse, but left them in the sink. I ran out to my truck to get the seat out, then ran it up to my closet to keep it a secret from my siblings- at least for a little while longer.

I knew Mom would be down in a few minutes to take the youngest to elementary school. Alessandro, Andreas, and Contessa got in my 1995 Ford F350. I dropped the boys at the middle school and then headed to the high school with Contessa. I pulled in and parked next to Lockland's black 4-door 1965Chevy Impala and Braxton and Killian's red 1993 Toyota extended cab truck. I looked over to see Alessandra getting out of Loc's car. I silently said 'crap' to myself: I'd forgotten I was going to have to tell her about Cy too. It wasn't because she needed to know. It was because telling her any secret outright- before she had the chance to get suspicious and sniff around- was the only way to get her to keep it. On the plus side, if you did tell her, she'd carry it to her grave. I got out of my truck and pulled her aside.

"Hey,Sandy. I have to tell you something, but it has to stay a secret."

"A secret?" She looked around to see who else might be listening.

"Yeah, I told the guys Saturday and told Tessy last night, but I might need your help later keeping the secret, so now it is your turn to know."

She looked intrigued. She whispered, "What is it?"

"Please don't squeal, but I found my mate Saturday at the party." She squealed. "Sandy calm down."

"But Dom! That is exciting! Who is it? Where are they?"

"That is the other part of the secret. For their safety NO ONE can know."

"But WHO was it? I did not see you spend time with anyone at the party...except for that... that kid?! That's who it is, isn't it? It's that kid... no wonder you want to keep it a secret..."
