I opened my eyes rapidly thinking my dreams had come true and I was anywhere but in this life-sucking cell but I soon found disappointment when all I saw were the gray metal walls of my new home.
My only hero is the small window I have that fortunately faces Earth.
If I could choose where to be right now, Earth would be my first and only option. I remember when my life wasn't this misery and my mother would tell me stories about her grandmother running with the trees trying to search for a river to jump in. She used to say the melody of the birds
singing was so calming that you could float away into space.
But sadly we have to come back to reality, where peace isn't a thing, at least not in the ark. Humanity has been locked up in
the ark for 97 years because of a nuclear bomb we planted.
Honestly if you ask me humans are dumbasses.
I have been locked up for exactly 182 days. I know I shouldn't be here, I should have
been floated 2 years ago but my father, being one of the members of the council, got me to stay alive until my 21st birthday, which is in 2 days.
Great. I'm going to spend my last days in this hellhole.
When I was little I always thought about my 21st birthday because it is a special day after all. I guess life doesn't go as you expect it to at such a young age.
To be truthful I have made peace with death because what's the point of living if you're going to live somewhere where you are monitored 24/7? I would rather-
Snapping me out of my thoughts, the cell door opens at full speed. I see two
guards wearing black suits with shock batons in their hands. With absolutely no facial expression, they begin walking towards me.
"Prisoner 366, face the wall and put both hands up" one said
What? This isn't supposed to happen for another 2 days?
"What the fuck is going on" I say as I just stand in the middle of the room, clearly, not
following directions.
"Do as we say or face the consequences of your actions."
"Make me, bitch"
I enforce while smirking.
Without thinking twice, I grab a guard's free hand and twist him into his knees, then I kick him in his private part.He deserved it.
Alright, onto the next unlucky bastard.
I try punching him in the stomach but I unexpectedly get an immediate electric shock running through my icy blood. I fall into the ground and whine in pain.
Shit.
The guard turns me sideways and reaches for his back pocket to grab something that I don't quite know what, but, scared, I kick both of his legs and he falls to the ground. Hardly getting up I begin punching him, after one or two punches I decide to make a run for it.
What could possibly go wrong, oh yea, my death, my father, embaressment and torture. ugh.
As I leave my cell door I turn and look sideways just two see thousands of guards chaining other prisoners and some fighting them like I did.
What the hell?
My thoughts are interrupted by a brown haired girl running in my direction. I turn my body just to find the one and only Octavia Blake, my best friend in the whole ark. She and I met when I got locked away but we weirdly got locked up in the same cell. That's how we met, the best and worst day of my life.
I widened my eyes to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Instantly she hugs me.
"Lili, I haven't seen you in so long! hell, you have no idea how much I have missed you." she exclaimed.
"Holy shit it's you. I missed you too. What the fuck is going on, Tav?"
I was the only one who called her that, besides her brother, whom I have never met before.
"How in the world am I supposed to know, you were the big brains in this friendship
remember!"
"Shit, run Octavia!" I said while looking at 3 guards running towards us.
I run the opposite direction as Octavia to try and distract them. My plan had worked, they followed me instead of her.
God I hope she is ok.
The guards catch up to me and take me out with a sedative that kicks in rapidly. Everything begins to blur and I let myself fall on the ground. The last thing I hear before drifting to sleep is.
"This one is going to be a real bitch down on Earth"
Earth?! What?
