Ya'aburnee - Arabic
Translates to "You Bury Me."
The hope that the person you love will outlive you so you can spare the pain of living without them.
"I will leave you words.
Underneath your door."
The sun set quickly, painting the sky in a dewey watercolour of orange and yellow. Beidou smiled into the salt breeze as she knew the yellow of the sunset and the white of the clouds were home. They approached Liyue quickly; the browns of the orange cliffs came into view as the boat's bow sliced through the water. The wind was at their back, frantically pushing into the sails.
"Underneath the singing moon."
That night they danced, seeing only each other in the room of a thousand swirling colours. The moon cast a gentle spotlight onto the pair as purple and gold became one. Her golden eyes and white hair looked like the sun reflecting off the sea foam, her hands a perfect curve like a swan's neck as it encircled her waist. As the music slowed they drew together, sharing a breath. Land and Sea returned to each other; they were a tide on a shore.
Forehead against forehead, Beidou looked at her lover. When she kissed her, it was like the moon had forwritten it, like it was supposed to happen, akin to the endless waves. This beautiful, vicious, cunning woman that she took as a lover. The woman she was in love with. Land and Sea were forever co-existing, never leaving. Changing together. Ningguang was the waves that couldn't be tamed, and Beidou fell all the more deeper for her because of it.
"Near the place where your feet pass by."
One night as the warm summer breeze drifted softly past the two women lying on the ship's deck, Ningguang spoke in that breathless tone of hers that meant she had something unfiltered to say, voice soft as she whispered the words only meant for Beidou;
"Chess is a game of strategy and planning," she paused as her amber eyes searched the dense star sky. "But, with you," Beidou could only stare frozen as those eyes turned to her, "with you, I am evenly matched." Ningguang's eyes crinkled at the outer corners with an invisible smile, showing her crow's feet. "That is foreign to me. You force me to play quickly and without a second thought. I've made a habit of concealing what I'm thinking, else the enemy gains the upper hand but you. You are my one exception. You are as afraid of me as I am of you." Ningguang's voice dropped to a soft whisper, as gentle as the waves sleeping on the sand. "You will never be an enemy, my love. You're my ally down to my very bones. I'd trust you with all the knowledge I have." Beidou felt the weight of the words settle on her chest. Purple eyes full of warm, lazy seas lock with amber.
"You are everything to me." Neither one of them spoke again that night, letting the gentle sway of the Crux and the weight of the whispering wind speak for them.
"Hidden in the holes of wintertime."
Months later, Beidou returned home; the ever-present pull of the horizon was silent as she looked upon Liyue. Even as she breathed in the stifling market air, the loud calls of vendors, and the heavy observation of the citizens, she didn't long for the swaying sea. At some point without her realising, Ningguang had become her horizon, her north that she would always return to. Beidou's waterlogged boots thudded on the stone paths as she walked toward the stationed Millileth. The moment they saw the Sea Captain, hair awry and clothes stiff from saltwater, they knew to stand aside with a polite tilt of their waist. Beidou followed the well-walked path down the corridor and up the stairs, the pull in her chest getting more and more frantic as she struggled to walk in an orderly fashion. It had been six long months in Inazuma, sailing back and forth between the neighbouring maze of islands. She reached the top of the stairs, the yellow, ornate screen showing only a silhouette. The warmth in the Tianquan's eyes as she caught sight of her lover, the sea to her land, was unrivalled by every Pyro in Teyvat. They walked slowly to each other, eyes lovingly locked. They stood face to face, the scent of salt and glaze lily curling around each other.
Ningguang smiled in that gentle smirk she only wore around her Captain, "play a game with me?"
The answering smile calmed the oceans, "certainly, my Love." That night, some said that the wind was the gentlest it's ever been, that the sea was playful instead of cruel and that the night sky was smiling as its stars shined brighter.
"And when you're alone for a moment."
The sun tiptoed softly through the window and sat over the kitchen like a content cat. Papers were stacked haphazardly on every surface with notes having been scrawled in a neat fountain pen. Remnants of rice sat abandoned on the countertop. The rug that covered the main room was woven and soft on the feet when one walked. The floor was dark brown, consisting of handcrafted planks made out of old driftwood. An anchor lay tilted against a wall, lace gloves were strewn on a dresser, a map to a long-forgotten island had rolled under the couch. Mora piled in each corner, a wind chime swung sleepily outside. Within the bedroom at the back of the house lay the Tianquan and her Captain. They were wrapped up in each other, it was impossible to tell where one ended and the other began as they stowed away underneath the covers. Even asleep, they looked at peace with one another, like their very soul was at rest. The house creaked, relaxed and content with the home that it become. A place of shared breaths and shared lives.
