Chapter 4 - "Can we save our marriage?" pt1

Alice's POV:
The next morning..I saw Hal coming to our room..it was very early and he used to go to the register after his breakfast but it had not even dawned.. and I was wondering where he was going but I didn't turn to ask..I didn't want to talk to him after our fight.. so I was pretending that I was sleeping.. I think.. he was just going to find what is he gonna wear..I heard his moves going to the closet and searching for something good to wear.. like he was going somewhere formal and wanted to find a nice suit..

H-"Jeez.. that's not even good to wear today" I heard him saying and it made me curious of where he was going and it was difficult for him to find smth good..

"Dad?" I think the voice was from Betty.. but I wasn't sure.. either it was Betty or Polly..
H-"What?" He said nervously..
B-"Can you drive me at school? I don't wanna be late again?"
H-"Fine..wait for me downstairs..I need to change clothes first"
B-"Okay" She left the room..

I heard his moves closing the door after Betty went downstairs..and probably undressing.. to wear the suit he chose..from the closet.. I turned and look at him.. but he didn't notice..and I didn't wanted him to..

After they left from the house..I went downstairs to eat breakfast.. unfortunately alone and then I went upstairs again to prepare and go to the register.. and after a while that I arrived at the register with my car.. Hal came.. he looked at me.. up and down..for some reason which I wish I knew but didn't really care for that.. and then he finally spoke..

H-"Hey"
A-"Took you two minutes"
H-"What?"
A-"Took you two minutes to say hi..was that difficult?"
H-"Oh I see where this is going.."
A-"At least I'm not wrong"
H-"Is it even difficult for you to say a "hi"
back or do you really wanna fight again? If yes.. I'm sorry but I don't want to"
A-"Ofc you're not in the mood to fight but you were last night which could be something better instead of a fight.."
H-"If you weren't hiding from me about Betty's boyfriend..then YES it could be something better for both of us"
A-"It wasn't only my fault.. you really find an excuse to start a fight, Hal"
H-"Yeah of course, you blame for that, believe me Alice, if you would accept it from the start..our divorce.. then everything would be easier and much better"
A-"Oh I'm sorry..I can't accept that my husband after decades of a marriage.. decided that he wanna get divorced..and ofc start blaming me for complaining"
H-"Okay okay.. let's admit it..no one's better in this situation..yes I did hurt you with my words but you keep making it more difficult for me and for yourself"

A-"Whatever" I scoffed..my egoism.. couldn't just admit his words were right..

H-"This stupid conversation started just bcs I was admiring of how beautiful you are right?" He laughed..

I laughed too..
A-"Probably I was just searching for an excuse to make a small fight..but thanks for the compliment"
H-"You know you make it more difficult to take my eyes off you when you smiling or laughing.. you're just look prettier than you already are"
A-"Ohh, why are you trying to flirt with me Hal?"
H-"I'm not.. I'm just speaking some facts about my wife" He stepped closer to me..
A-"I thought we were.. supposed to work right?"
H-"Hmm.. yeah I know but we have time to do that later" He came more closer and then he leaned and start kissing my neck..
A-"Why suddenly do you wanna continue what we started yesterday night?"
H-"Well.. let's just say..I changed my mind..is this a good excuse for you to let me continue?"
A-"Go ahead, no one's stopping you"
H-"Okay that's pretty good for a new start"

He continues kissing her neck and then he goes his hand down to her chest..He starts unbuttons her shirt and then he kisses her chest..Hal pushes her against her desk..while he throws everything away with his hand..

A-"Oh, God"
Alice takes off Hal's jacket and his shirt and throw it on the floor and then she starts sucking his neck while Hal slowly takes off her shirt..then he kiss her on her lips..Alice wraps her hands around his arms while they keep kissing..they pull away from the kiss and then Hal's phone start ringing..

A-"fuck, not now"
H-"sorry about that.." He answers the phone..

H-"Hello, Waldo" ( Mr Weatherbee )
W-"Hello, Hal.. could pls come from the school..we need to talk"
H-"About what?"
W-"Betty got into a fight"
H-"Oh God, with who?"
W-"Veronica Lodge and Reggie Mantle"
H-"Okay I'm coming, thanks for calling me." He hangs up.

A-"What happened?"
Hal put his shirt and jacket on..
H-"Our daughter, Betty..got into a fight with her best friend"
A-"Oh God"
H-"That's exactly what I said before.. anyways I gotta go to school.. do you wanna come with me?"
A-"No it's okay, someone's needs to work since we're not able to do smth else"
H-"Okay.."

Hal's POV:
I went to school and after the conversation I had with Betty's principal..I drove at our house..just being nervous with Betty...we went inside..and..after much of silence..I spoke..

H-"What happened again, Betty?"
B-"Nothing important"
H-"You had a fight with her..she slapped you as I heard..so I guess it's already important"
B-"I don't wanna talk about it"
H-"I don't care about that"
B-"Uh, fine.. She finds out about kissing her boyfriend.. that's all"
H-"Oh, and why did you do that?"
B-"It was just a mistake of some seconds"
H-"Fine..I got it..like mother like daughter"
B-"Huh- why would you say that?"
H-"Cause your mother did kissed my best friend..FP Jones at high school.."
B-"Oh.. that's why you didn't like hearing about Jughead?"
H-"Probably..anyways that happened many years ago but as your father..I'll just say that.. what you did was very wrong even though it was just a mistake..and you should respect your best friend"
B-"I know..I have regretted it but dad, have you cheated on mom?"
H-"No, honey.. I would never..I respect your mother in this way and she does too..why do you ask?"
B-"You wanna get divorced with her..I heard you fighting with her these days..so there's must be a reason and I thought that you or her cheated..so if not.. what's the reason then?"
H-"I just believe that your mother deserves to be happy, that's the reason"
B-"But she's happy with you, dad"
H-"I don't think so"
B-"Okay well..not lately bcs she's very hurt of the fact that you suddenly wanna get divorced but trust me, you still make her happy and I believe she will be very sad without you..Dad, mom loves you..and we both know..you do too but if you still wanna get divorced then no one's can stop you"
H-"Oh..well.. would you mind if you and Polly went for a sleepover to Cheryl?..I might need to talk with your mother..I think a dinner would be a great idea.. what do you think?"
B-"it's a very good idea..I will send a message to Cheryl.. immediately.."
She smiled..

Later at the night..

Alice's POV:
Finally, I went back home..I haven't seen Hal after he left..so I finished my work and went back home.. when it was almost night..

A-"Hal? Betty?" I was going to the kitchen..until I saw the table ready for a special dinner and then I saw Hal too..

A-"What's all of this..and where's our daughters?"
H-"It's a dinner for us and they went for a sleepover at Thornhill.. so have a seat, baby"
A-"You're impressing me.." I headed to the table and Hal helped to sit just by being a gentleman..
H-"This is just the start, sweetheart" he whispered to my ear..
A-"Okay.. but the reason for a dinner is to convince me signing the divorce papers?"
H-"I wouldn't say that but I would just say..that this dinner, it's an apology for the pain that I have give you lately"
A-"And as I said..also for what's coming next.."
H-"Take it as you want"

He sits in the other edge of the table..

H-"Cheers🥂 and stop looking at me like that..relax pls"
A-"Fine"

After the dinner,

A-"To be honest..it was very good and very delicious"
H-"Thanks"
A-"You really should cook more often.. you're way too good at it"

He laughs "your mother was a good teacher for it"
A-"Right"

H-"Anyways do you want a drink?"
A-"Yes.."

Hal put a drink to both of us..and we both sit on the couch..close to each other..

Okay, that's it.. I'm really sorry for late..I just couldn't find the motivation. Anyways tell me your opinion about it on the comments.
