Thomas's POV
I had just finished talking to Janson. I was now sitting with the others. There were some kids talking about how they got here, I wasn't fully listening. Suddenly, a scream cut one of the guys off. It echoed throughout the room. Everyone went quiet, looking for the source of the scream. There was a little chatter about what happened. I think someone said something about a girl, but I wasn't sure. 'Who was that?' Newt asked.
'We don't know. All we know is she is the only one that kid will talk to.' He pointed to a kid who was sitting on his own. 'He's been here the longest. About a week. His maze was nothing but girls, lucky bastard.' He spoke a little more, and then Janson came in. He said a few things and pulled some people away. I saw someone walk past the window, it was Teresa. I called out and tried to follow her, but the guard wouldn't let me through. Eventually, the boys and I got shown to a room. It had a bed for each of us.
After a few hours, everyone but me was asleep. I couldn't. The only thing on my mind was Teresa. Where was she going? Why wasn't she with us? Wh- My thoughts were interrupted by a small clanging noise. 'Psst. Down here.' I looked under my bed and saw the boy from the cafeteria. 'I need to show you something. Come on.' I don't know why, but I followed him. A few turns later, he was telling me to be quiet. He told me to look down the vent. I did and saw the doctor who was with Teresa. The doctors were rolling a bed through some doors. It almost looked like a body.
'What's through there?' I asked.
'I don't know. The vents don't go into that section. But what I do know is that the people who go into that room don't come out. I don't think anyone ever actually leaves this place!'
'Why are you telling me this?'
'The others will listen to you. We should start heading back. I'm Aris, by the way.'
'Thomas.'
We started to head back, but Aris told me to wait. He opened the vent and jumped down. 'Thomas, get down here.' A girl called down to me. I definitely do not recognise that voice. I jumped down and found myself in a cell.
Aris and the girl were hugging. 'How was it?' He asked her.
'Bad. One of the worst ones yet. Hi, Thomas. It's good to see you again.' She smirked at me. The weird thing was I recognised the smirk. It looks a lot like the smirk Gally used to give me. 'You don't remember me, do you?'
'Should I?'
'Do you want to?'
'I don't know. Who are you?'
'Rilley. You may know my brother. He didn't like you at all.'
'Who's your brother?'
'You'll find out, in time. You wanna see what's in that room, right?'
'Yeah?'
'I have an idea.' She explained her idea and a few other things, before Aris and I made our way back through the vent. I went back to the room and found Newt waiting for me. He interrogated me. I told him everything I saw. Neither of us ended up sleeping. By the time I stopped speaking, it was time for breakfast. All of us went to the cafeteria, got our food and sat down at the same table as yesterday. Everything was normal until a shockwave rippled through the building. About two minutes went by when Rilley burst through the door and walked over to Aris. She whispered something into his ear, looking at me. Aris looked at me and slightly nodded. I jumped out of my spot and walked with the people who got called away. Once again the guard stopped me, but without anyone noticing, I took his key card. My friends came over and tried to pull me away from the guard.
