The night is cold. The alluring darkness is soothing over the edges of the frost, yet one still can feel their own limbs numbing down, the feeling in their fingers slowly gone.

No one speaks. They dare not bother the peacefulness of the night, or the person standing in front of them. Tall, proud and tired. His blonde hair is fading, as if the color is slowly being washed away. His red eyes are blazing into the night, as if two fires lit in the desert. His hands are in fists, trembling slightly. Yet, his gaze is far away in the horizon, watching the line, where sky and earth merge together.

His head is pounding, ache running deep in his core. And he wishes for nothing more, but to clench his head tightly and scream atop of his lungs in agony. Yet, he stands still, unmoving, strong, knowing that he cannot show weakness in front of others, in front of people, he is supposed to lead.

"Marcus." The sound of the voice, calling out his name, snaps him out of the constant pain. He turns around, his eyes landing on the boy with black hair and deep, blue, nearly colorless eyes. Levi takes a step towards him, standing side-by-side.

"Yes?" He smiles at the boy next to him, knowing that he is the only person, who understands him, at least, partly. "Something happened?" His voice is hallow, full of anger, rage, tiredness and emptiness inside his soul.

"We have new information about Cassie." His voice is confident, something Marcus has not heard in his tone for a long time. Actually, ever since they lost the fight in the Academy. Arching eyebrow, he turns around and starts walking in fast pace, knowing that Levi is keeping up with him close by. His steps are measured as he steps inside the cave, heading directly towards the large desk with scattered papers on it.

"What's the info?" His voice is low, barely audible in the sound of wind. His eyes are focused on the papers, reading through lines with ease. Yet, his heart is pumping loudly against his chest, drumming on the ribcage. His fingers start playing on the wooden surface.

"She has fought with The Head." Levi's voice is clear and calm, confident. "She has won, which means that according to deal they made, she is to be set free from the Academy and The Base." Levi's words starts replaying in his head. Hope starts swelling in his chest as he sighs out in relief.

"When are we to have her?" He asks loudly, small smile creeping up on his lips, and tugging them upwards. But he knows that he needs to be careful, past mistakes reminding themselves to him. Mistakes, that cost him lot of people. Loyal people.

"We don't know, yet." Levi murmurs the words out. Marcus nods, knowing that it is not easy for the boy as well, seeing the longing in his eyes. "The Insider told us that she is held against her will in one of the cells under the Academy." Levi continues murmuring out the words.

"They cannot keep her in there for long, though." Marcus shakes his head, headache forgotten momentarily. "Sooner or later, they will have no other choice, but let her go, especially if the deal was made."

Levi nods, small hopeful smile making its way on his face. He has been lost ever since the day, Cassie went in the Academy. He knew that sooner or later, he would have to act on orders, having to threaten her life and even kill people, that are precious to her. Yet, he never expected it to trigger the monster inside of her.

He always considered himself to be lucky. He managed to survive The Hunters, managed to join The Dark Ones and even manage to get in the higher level. He was a prodigy, genius of some sort. Until the mission, when he had to retrieve a girl, who activated her powers early and could not control them. Until, he met her.

He knew from the beginning that he was drawn to her, attracted in a sort, that he could not explain. And soon, he found himself falling in love with girl, he had to take. And for him, it was never easy to love Cassie Stewart, especially after finding out the truth. He knew that in the end, his heart would be broken, yet, he stayed till the end, and he got burnt in the process.

"Levi..." He looks up at the mention of his name. Marcus is sitting by the desk, small knowing smile tugging his lips. "She will understand." He only murmurs these words, but they are enough for Levi to know that there might still be a chance for them.
