I loved her.
I've always loved her.
But she loves him.

☾︎༒︎☽︎

She stood before me: her eyes swollen, a cut across her cheek. Her breaths were slow and heavy.

"You promised me, you promised you wouldn't let this happen ever again," tears rolled down her cheeks.

"I promise it will never happen again, for as long as I live."

"Liar."

I pulled her into my chest. Her auburn curls tumbled down her face.

Never again.

He was always going to hurt her it just depended on how long it would take.

After all, he was the snake: hollow and shallow.
She was the rose: beautiful and delicate.

I knew I should never have let her marry him.
I knew she would get hurt.

She was safe now.
With me.
