It was late, and you were doing the only thing you ever do on a late night. You were staying shut in your apartment, watching mindless shit on TV.

You still had your suit on, from being out all day. You were spattered lightly in blood and hadn't washed since yesterday.

You were starting to regret this whole vigilante thing now.

you hadn't been seen out as yourself since...well since the breakup with Bruce Wayne. After that, you changed your suit so you'd be somewhat unrecognisable to him.

you'd changed it from black to white, and added cat ears just for fun. The city knew you as cat woman, never as y/n, because she was a nobody.

There were moments where it felt like cat woman was a different person - an alter ego if you will.
There were certain points where the switch was flipped, and cat woman was a-front.

This was one of those times.

You had no particular mission, but saw the bat signal gleaming so far up in the mist. You had to admit - you really missed Bruce. You broke up because he was never around - always working. You spend your nights as y/n thinking what could have happened with you two.

anyways, you decided it would be good to go stop some random crimes - get your mind off things for the millionth time.

You were just cruising around, when you saw a man, being harassed by a small group of people. He was old, and he looked terribly scared.

You jumped down in-front of him, blocking him from these randoms. They were all wearing unusual masks, all of them faded, scuffed, and bloodied.

"I'm gonna count to three."

"And what's that gonna do?" One of them spat.

"I'm gonna count to three. And you better be gone by the time I stop counting. And if not...."

One of them gulped.

"I'll smash your fucking skulls in and keep the pieces as home decor."

they didn't look scared - probably because what I said was fucking lame. Who cares.

All of a sudden, the number of kids in masks just tripled, and I was left thinking, "well shit."

So I began by kicking one of them in the face, while also dodging a knife throw. Before I know it, all of them are coming at me. One of the guys runs at me, with a bat. So, I grabbed it before he could swing and flung him to the floor. I whipped around, to find a taller guy has roped his arm around my neck. So I roll up his sleeve and bite him - then I flip him over the top of me like a wrestler. Before I know it, I'm through like thirty of em.

Just when I thought I was winning, i see a gun being pulled. I didn't have time to react, and all of a sudden there's a sharp pain in my right leg. I fall to the floor and almost blackout, but remain conscious thankfully. It was raining, hard, so I couldn't really see much. But I can recall a dark figure, emerging from the shadows. I hear punching noises, and I see the man hit the ground.

The figure approaches me, picks me up, and wipes my bleeding nose. My vision is blurred and warped, so I don't recognise the mystery person. But I can hear their voice perfectly- the low pitched rumble of a sound that sends shivers down my spine and moths to my stomach.

"I've been looking everywhere for you."

My vision starts to unblur as I come back to my senses. I see Bruce's eyes staring through my body and into my soul. He doesn't see the me with the bruises all over and the smudged makeup. He sees me.

and I knew I should've been mad at him, but in that moment, that's all I could think about. Because I knew I was dying.

"Y/n, you're gonna be fine." He said calmly, but I could tell he was nervous.

His voice cracked and a tear rolled down his cheek. I raised a weak hand to his cheek and smiled.
"You finally found me."

And then I closed my eyes. I closed them tight.

I could hear Bruce's screams for my name get further and further away, as I left him alone in the rain. Forever.
